Veloviewer Tile Bagging?

  • Grow your yard? Fewer blocks, still need to go out and bag squares either side of routes you have ridden that are one square thick to join clusters etc.

  • Yeah, I will. But it's not as satisfying. #ihatethread

I hate being stopped doing anything. Especially because of other people.

Never grabbed a screenshot of the little ones but you can filter recent chunks, ie.

"You've collected 1787 new squadratinhos during the last 7 days."

  • My Ãœbersquadratinho is a pitiful 12x12 but my other half and I have been enjoying going out and getting extra squares together. For a while I thought this square was unobtainable but the gate was just far enough up the drive. I'm one square from 13x13 but then it's golf in both the the south west and north east corners.

  • I give zero shits about walking across golf courses. They can get fucked. I've got the Sultan of Swing blocking South and West and then trainlines blocking North and East. Actually a school is blocking East but even if I get that one, it won't grow the square because train depots and crap. Super annoying. I almost got it too (went straight past security but hit another wall)

I guess the po po might frown on me walking down the M4.

    fakes a breakdown

I mean car breakdown not mental, although that could work too.

  • Is the field with sheep in (according to Google Maps Satellite view) part of the Sultan's property?

The two squares south of the M4 should be doable with some bushwhacking from that lane.

(But this is all just theory from looking at Google Maps etc, no idea of how practical it is.)

  • Greenford Royal Mail looks like you only need to go ~50m down a path through an open pedestrian gate? Add the school and then you get stuck at 26x26?

How does one join Bestway and would a really good GPS receiver get any signal inside? Looks like they might have roof lights made of not-metal.

  • Is there a squadrats app yet?

  • I think so. I've been around this lot and so far as I've seen it's fenced off

You mean the two bottom right squares could be got bushbashing south of the M4? There's a gate or something there according to OSM and if it looked like I could get through I'd probably have tried. Might need to do some very specific tile hunting.

  • I wondered that but then wasn't sure what it would do compared to the mobile version of the website. Perhaps offline?

  • open pedestrian gate

Open to who though? Pretty sure that was all locked up when I was there and I'm not tailgating for a square. I think I could go further in Perivale Wood in the summer (I'm a member as of last night!)

My squads plugin has stopped working so now I can't see missing squares.

  • Is the field with sheep in

I just laughed out loud when I read this as my daughter was watching an episode of Shaun the Sheep last night where there was a man who disguised himself as a sheep to avoid the police or something. It could work, no?

  • I'll have to have another look, but I'm assuming the reason I didn't go further north or east on that lane under the M4 is because there's big fences around most of it and the train lines.

  • This is the gate. Sign just says 'no tipping'. There's another sign but can't see it to read.

  • I just like having dedicated apps so that I don't need to keep tabs open or dig through bookmarks or log in regularly

  • A hippy is sheep's clothing.

  • Where is that one? It might not all be Sultan property but there's still the bits that are. So even if I clean up around it, there's still the Aviary square(s).

My RWGPS and 'rats site are fucked. Maybe too much mapping for me today.

Looks like Chrome Canary has shat the bed. Let's try Chrome Pleb.

  • I meant sneaking off the North of Osterley Lane to the West of that.

    Going North here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XDzd6z9CHqY98CdV9

and the investigating the trees to the North/East when you get to the bend. That should allow you to clip those two tiles just South of the M4.

  • I think we're on the same page. Maybe I can clamber further into the trees, maybe I didn't give it a fair go, mostly because it's behind the Sultan joint anyway.

Squadrats or RWGPS or both are fucked now though so I can't plan proper routes.

Yeah. This is what's pushing me towards looking at my yardinho once I hit the various "ungettable" squares that no doubt exist around me in each direction.

North is limited by the Hurlingham Club.
West by the Roehampton Club golf course.
South by Wimbledon Tennis (although one day with a ground pass and that's covered by a walk).
East and South East I'm not sure where the blockers are:

    • The lake at Wimbledon Park I can get via the back of The Wimbledon Club as I can wander around at a local cricket game there (even easier if they're in my daughter's league this coming season).
    • There might be one tricky square in the old Wimbledon Park golf club land (which is now owned by Wimbledon Tennis) just south of The Wimbledon Club
Otherwise I can't see anything for 30+ squares anywhere S/E of me that looks tricky.
  • Where is that one?

It's a couple of hundred yards south of the M4 bridge.

  • Looking at it all there's also a load of tiles that I know I've covered but for some reason I just don't have a GPS trace from.

I've run round Wandsworth Park dozens of times and cycled through it (next to the river) hundreds of times but I'm still missing those two small tiles.

The tile that contains the flat I lived in for 5 years is also white. I must have done hundreds of rides starting/ending there over the years.

I can pick off a bunch more with variations on my route to 5-a-side football on a Tuesday and bump my yardinho by 20 or so and get it close to connecting with my central London tiles.

  • I know I've covered but for some reason I just don't have a GPS trace from.

Yeah, it's annoying. I regret not getting a GPS until so late. I've got 4 months of touring Europe and Dunwich Dynamo and L2P and Tour of Ireland and all kinds of shit in Oz that I've no GPS for.

Check your Strava privacy settings - maybe your old house is in a privacy zone.

  • Stick a bookmark on your home screen?

  • I've prob ridden past it, but it depends if it hooks back into the squares I actually need.

There's one stubborn arsehole square I've stopped going to because I stung for days after covering myself with nettles to get as far into the bush as possible. Still didn't get it. There's a tree that's fallen over the fence which I'll probably have to climb to get it. I'm over 40 for fucks sake and climbing trees for some stupid pokemon game...

  • Yeah, looks like it's specific to Canary. Last update broke squadrats.
