For those of you who have been following Operation "She's Not Our Cat... Right?"
We took the little 5 month old stray (from the crawl space under our flat) to be spayed today... and microchipped... and inoculated... and flead... and wormed... and I bought a microchip catflap for the bottom door... and a normal one for the top... and a cat carrier... and a cat bed with a little roof because she likes to feel safe as she was a street cat and hid in a hole.
She's our cat now. She's looking really shaky after her op. Currently hiding under the bed and worryingly she was eating some food a while ago, let out a yelp and backed off - I mean reversed like a slow van - away from the dish. Whatever happened it hurt!
Hope she heals up quick because Mrs Wrongcog is already an emotional wreck and I'm quite taken by her.
Her name is Pocket (Mrs W didn't go for Yauch which is a bummer).

Aww bless. I'm sure she'll be fine. Where did you get her spayed?
As long as the wound is healing, there isn't swelling and it doesn't appear to leak she should be bounding around in no time. I would encourage her to drink some water if she wont eat.
Quite taken with her? Come on, you're clearly nuts about her - quite right too :)

Bloke in the pub did it.
And yeah - she's ok I suppose.

These guys did it and I have to say I have been really impressed with them so far. Really loving and patient and professional. Lots of advice for novices like me.

We got my cat one of those beds that you attach to your radiator. She loves it.

Loads of us on here have them.
Yours is much cleaner than mine!

He highness will only use the radiator bed when it s resting on the table. Ie when I need the rad to dry my clothes... Boo...

Mr Wrongcog, I think you will find that she is not your cat, but rather you are her people. Lol...

Pocket, I am disappoint.

Mrs Cog is from oop North so she's Pocket as in "soft as your pocket". It still emasculates me every time I say it though. Mostly I call her 'Pox'
Suits her though.

Between this and Post Your Pets I reckon we've got it pretty well covered for a bike forum :)

She's back out of my under bed drawer now. Even managed to eat some food without twanging her ovarian gap.

Will be riding to my vets for some advice tomorrow, the Wolf appears to have caught his nut sack on something sharp (he hasn't got any nuts anymore anyway) but it looks like it might have opened the wound where he had them done (although this was nearly two years ago now) He's not in pain and seems fine with it, but there is fur missing and the skin is broken (but not infected). I have taken a photo of the injury (don't worry I'm not going to post that here!) and am going to get 5 mins with my vet to get his opinion. I think we'll need to take him in to get him repaired - but want to confirm with the vet and also see if I can kill two birds with one stone and get his jabs done at the same time (save two visits and general unhappiness for the wolf).
My vet is very good http://www.villagevet.co.uk/practice/ealing/ and I know he's in before he starts appointments at 9, so I reckon I can doorstep him for 5 minutes, and show him a high res digital photo of my cat's scrotum. Brilliant. In other news Aftershave (My mum's name for Aramis the MBK) is still following the wolf around like a shadow.
Pocket is awesome looking by the way, I'm sure she'll be fine.

How's Wolf's empty luggage Clefty? Is he such an (ex) Don that he caught his swingers in a car door when he got out or something?
Pocket's feline groovy this morning. Snuggled up next to me having polished off her second (!) helping of poached fish.
Here's a pic of her the other day watching her favorite repeats on the cat channel.

Spoke to the vet, he's booked in next Sat morning to be looked at - he's given me some antibiotics until then to stave off any infection. The wolf happily ate his first crushed up tablet wrapped in a piece of smoked salmon. I dunno how the hell he did it, it's a bizarre injury - Vet wanted him in earlier - but we just cant do it as we both work - We'll keep a close eye on his nuts throughout the week.
Time to start kitty box orientation week...He's fine tho, sitting on my lap looking at the cat thread.

The auto feeder was a success during our week back in NI. Last year we came back to turds and cat piss on our laundry piles. Tried to negate that this year by not having any lying around and closing the bedroom doors. They instead decided to use the bath mat as both scratching post and litter tray. It is currently on its second boil wash, it may be destined for the bin. At least the dirty protest was confined to one area.

We've been to the Sheffield Cat Shelter today. Fortunately for us they don't have an "ADOPT ALL THE CATS" option.
Although not technically up for adoption just yet, they need to be spayed, we've pre-adopted a mother and daughter pair called Podge and Splodge. Not brilliant names but they're a good balance of confident without being too manic and we reckon they should be a good fit for us. Pictures to come soon.
In the meantime, we're trying to come up with a good female name pairing. So far I have;
Ataclysm and Atastrophe
Big Trouble and Little China

A video of Podge and Splodge can be found in the above link. Splodge is the kitten. I accept no responsibility for any time spent looking at other very cute videos on the Sheffield Cat Shelter web page.

Like.
However all cats become 'bastard','sodding' and 'get the fuck' eventually.
You can usually tell if they are scared or just playing, simple things like how big their eyes are or which way their ears are facing and if any hair is standing up. If they make slight childish meows also they are usually playful. I just chase it regardless, if it gets scared it usually hides under something rather than hiding in plain sight.
On the talking point, I think I read somewhere that talking to cats is good at building the bond. I talk to her, not loads but she undertands me telling her to 'come here' and if I find a spider or something for her I can call her from anywhere with a certain tone of voice and she will come running.
Calling her and usually tapping where I want her to come i enough for her to come over.
