Oh that doesn’t sound good. Fingers crossed.
Meanwhile Dizzy is off to the vet first thing tomorrow after seeing to have issues with her hind legs. She’s walking oddly and when she jumped off a chair her back legs seemed to give way and her bum hit the ground. She doesn’t seem to be in pain and her bowel and bladder are working so maybe it’s just joint stiffness but it’s come on very suddenly, so we’re both pretty worried. She’s 16 in a couple of months but has been in great shape so this has come as a surprise. Will be a worried sleep tonight.

So sorry to hear. Fingers crossed.

Another fingers crossed for dizzy.

Thanks for the crossed fingers. Kipps has an unidentified foreign body stuck in her intestine, surgery today and we will see what that uncovers.

good luck, Kipps; hope it gets sorted.

Now part of me is wondering what snack did Kipps eat as my two fuckwits (or I suspect the ex being an inconsiderate fuckwit, as an ex gave her a ficus tree and would not get rid of the tree. After two! trips to the vets with very ill cats. The plant was burnt... by me. Yes, I still hold that grudge. Why deliberately put something with cats that can kill them. Would have preferred to be poisoned over the cats) let's them lick chocolate.

Daughter got this portrait of Poppy for Christmas. I love it, she does reign our house.

Kipper is through surgery and all appears good. They removed a compacted fur ball from her intestine which was blocking everything. Hopefully she'll be home tomorrow.

That is good news.

And so it begins. Trying to just leave her to it

Been there. Never seen such a sorry puss, the poor bastard... Wish the vets had figured it out sooner. And the cost! Took us from doing okay to tenuous in one hit.

Camouflage to match the desk?
Happy gotcha day.

Are there signs to look for as one of mine is very fluffy and regularly coughs up furballs and and afraid of this happening and missing it.

Aside from not shitting (which we couldn't tell since he's one of three outdoor cats), Fwuff just started acting like he was crook, then really crook. Ultimately he was in that tucked pose crouched down on all fours, except with one side of his face on the floor, never seen that before.
Now he has a hairdresser and a regular dose of Laxapet.

Apologies if my comment of wondering what Kipps ate was in bad taste or upseting.
It is my low level worry that my two have eaten something they should not have. Especially as co parent gives them maltesers to play with and lick, and Carluccio panetone with citrus bits and chocolate.

Co parent could use a talking to. I never used to have a clue how much stuff is poison to cats

Well, night one has gone OK I guess. She's very much sussing the place out and spent last night under our bed, but did go downstairs for food/toilet. Few attempts were made to get on the bed, politely taken off. She seems content.
Think today we're just gonna let her try and roam downstairs a bit more. She's naturally super sensitive to any noise as well so it's tiptoes all day.

Well the vet couldn’t find anything obviously wrong with Dizzy, and she’s suspecting either an injury or progressive arthritis. She’s on anti-inflammatory meds and we shall see how she copes in the next week. It’s not nice watching her getting down off a chair or the bed, so we’ve place boxes and platforms everywhere so she can get up and down more easily. But she seems happy enough, so we’ll wait and see.

No it was all fine with me.
Wish the vets had figured it out sooner. And the cost! Took us from doing okay to tenuous in one hit.
It was a bit odd re costs for us. Kipps isn’t insured and this was made clear at the outset, as was our moral / ethical / whatever the right word is opposition to spending thousands and thousands on an animal. Initially it was “you’re looking at 1500’ish quid at the very outset for scans, bloods, x-rays etc and if surgery is involved would be at least another 2-3k “. I explained again that we don’t agree in spending thousands on chasing problems on small animals so we would not be doing that. The costs then seemed to shrink substantially to a level we were prepared to entertain.
I have to say I find it a bit odd / distasteful that a vets would mention their 0% payment plans for the big bill before ever mentioning they could shave the costs by +70%. -

Yeah, tried and failed. I wish she would feel the pain she inflicts on the cats. Who knows why is a cat throwing up and miserable after eating chocolate? The vet trips because of the ficcus plant still gets to me.

There is a insurance additional charge imo. My two are with pets at home monthly to get shots twice a year and flea and worm treatment (even tho they are indoor cats) but for anything else we used to use a local vet called zalmans.
Vets for pets looked at the cats red gums and said forl and they needed teeth out. Zalmans looked and said brush teeth, here have a pair of toothbrushes and let's see in three and six months and all in was £60.Now they have been taken over by medivet. Who are trying to take over the world...

We are in a “leave it overnight and see how things go” stage, bit more optimistic than earlier but things are a bit up in the air.
