On another place I frequented someone had jumped straight to this point by naming the cats Mayhem and Destruction which I always thought was ace

anyone's kitties don't like sitting on their laps? Her highness is happy to sit near me. i.e I sit at my desk and she sits under my desk. I sit on the sofa and she sits on the carpet. BUT she hardly ever sits on my laps, she would maybe stand on my laps but sitting down? It's a thing of the past... she did for a few weeks... I am starting to take this personally...

I guess it could have something to do with space for them to be comfortable? As mines gotten bigger she much prefers sleeping between my legs than on my lap now.

My first cat Fang didn't do laps at all, but would snuggle up next to me. The Wolf is all over me however, as soon as I sit down especially at my desk he's up on my lap. He craves warmth and is often found to be spooning MOC in the morning when I wake up (his body temperature is hotter than the sun or the inside of a freshly toasted pitta bread)

You're lucky you even get standing! ours don't give two shits. Food? oh yeah sure we'll give you hind legged tricks! Apart from that, good bloody luck! Selfish yet adorable bastards!

thing is though, she did, whenever my boyfriend sits on the sofa or something, she would sit on his for a long time. And every morning, Patch would jump on my laps for a big fuss before breakfast. Something has changed. Maybe now she knows she doesn't have to please anymore to stay here for good?
Before - "Oh... I better be a good cat and do anything and everything cute to please her so she won't kick me out. Like the last one did... homeless wasn't much fun..."
Now - "Oh... I have got my chair, I have got my box, I have got nice expensive cat food, I have got a garden. Sessions has changed and she still hasn't kicked me out, I don't have to pretend anymore. I will just be ME!"

The Wolf's 'wound' seems to be healing up well, he's also not complaining about the ham/tuna/smoked salmon that I'm using to wrap his antibiotics in. I reckon by the time I take him to the vet this weekend, it will be completely healed.

Good news, cats are resilient bastards.
I've always wondered do cats have a high pain threshold? And when they lick an area that is hurt does their saliva contain some sort of numbing agent or similar?

Depend on the breed, my cat (part maine coon) are not known to be lap cat, but the other whom is a domestic ginger shorthair* is definitely a lap cat.
Don't take it personally, the part-coon of our used to sat on people's lap for a short while when they have been away for a couple weeks before lying all over the floor when she realised she been had.
*not a main characteristic as it varies.

They're also just fickle wankers. Both mine vary between hurtfully aloof and annoyingly needy.
