See, like I said, once they have established they are not gonna get kicked out again, they become CATS!
Mine did exactly the same when I took her to the vet a week into her stay with me. All the way to the vet, she sat in hthe box almost sulking, once the check is over, she shot back into the box.

^ does she look fat?? She has gained a fair bit of weight these last couple of months... Some friends say she just looks big as in her build but not fat... She was tiny when I got her back in Sept...

Good news, cats are resilient bastards.
I've always wondered do cats have a high pain threshold? And when they lick an area that is hurt does their saliva contain some sort of numbing agent or similar?
Cats are super stoic; will not show pain and will even purr when in agony to avoid showing weakness. Cats mouths are also massive bacteria factories so if you get bit it's iodine time.

I thought cats mouths would be really clean? Not to worry I brush her highness's mouth most mornings.

• #1233
Clean? Does yours use toilet paper or something?
-
• #1234
Nope but I wipe it with wet wipes after a shit.
-
• #1235
Do you really brush her teeth every morning?
-
• #1236
Not every morning, about twice a week.
Got this cat toothpaste off amazon which came with a couple of shaped brushes. The paste supposedly tastes of tuna so no problem getting her to like it. She's sort of used to me holding her mouth and opening it so its not so bad.

Meh, its more to protect my own furniture and carpet. Plus I dont want it coming and licking my face with its bad breath. Already got one lady for that.
Last part is a joke.

You brush your cat's teeth? I can't even be arsed to brush my daughter's half the time.
-
• #1241
Yep why not? It will only hopefully avoid problems later on...

Yep why not?

Our short haired female ginger cat follows us around the house, and as soon as you sit down, will come and sit on you, regardless of what you might be doing (or trying to do!). She is fat and never goes outside, as it seems to scare her too much.
our longer haired tabby male cat will sit on you once a day, usually late evening and have a proper kip, but doesn't want any fuss, he is lithe and is outside for as much time as possible.

Honestly I dont have any trouble handling mine. You just need to get them used to it over time. I've had a few experiences with the black and white which has definitely brought us closer.
She was eating a wasp a few months ago and must have got stung by it in her mouth and the sting broke off. She went into quiet mode and became very agitated. Went into low pro cat walk mode. Had to coax her and open her mouth to investigate and found the sting lodged under her tongue. I held her mouth open and the missus used a tweezer to pull it out.
Also had to remove something from her eye when she stuck her head in something she shouldn’t have. Took a while but got it out in the end.
The cat must know you have helped it out as these instances definitely brought her closer to me.
I usually give her treats when i come home in the evening and have also managed to get her to sit with a bit of training. Pretty much trained to perfection.

Anyone know a bricks and mortar store in East London where I can buy some World's Best cat litter this evening? I don't really want to drive out to Beckton or Camden for a Pets-At-Home.

I know this wont help you in the short run but I cant recommend highly enough this litter.
Amazon have it and the cats love it. Plus it doesnt stick in their feet and clumps perfectly and also smells great.

Pox has taken just over a week to be less lovey and lappy. Still follows me round like a pup but the purring is way less dramatic and she's mostly motivated by food. She forgets the hell of the hole under our gaff and now acts like she owns the place. Still prefers to sleep in secluded, dark places though (like under the bed). She's clever enough to suss the vets out too. Didn't come out of her box easily this morning for the doc but once her check up was done she put herself back in there sharpish. "Get me out of here Wrongcog - it sucks".
