  • There are suits and suits. Brogue boots look nice with a rougher wool thing.

  • Any suggestion for a good boot to wear to the office through the winter?

LL Bean have a nice (Ranger?) boot in burgundy. I've already mentioned their Iron Ranger-a-like boot that is great value.

  • Agreed re: suits. A rough wool suit would be excellent with the bledales, but the suits I have in my wardrobe probably aren't going to work. I've already got some tan chelseas I wear, thinking a sharp black pair would work well with a slim leg. Dainite sole chelsea..?

  • Thinking of these (in Tan) for the winter.

Yeah Loake Bledales. Look really nice on, though I sized down to an 8 and I'm considering trying a 7.5 (though I didn't have chunky winter socks on when I tried them) as they are pretty wide. They come with a rubber sole as above. Lovely boots. I think I'll pull the trigger on them.

I'm not convinced I could work them with a suit though. Any suggestion for a good boot to wear to the office through the winter?

I got the waxed Bedale's, really nice boots, the sole is a goodyear welted one
also for the 1880 lasts, you'll have to size down, my 8's fit my 8.5 feet with a bit of room after they broke in.
    do it!!

Thanks, I ended up getting some stow boots in espresso from their factory shop. Gave them a call and they went a searched out all of the available models in my size for me.

  • Tk max in brixton had some Sebago ankle high boots for arround £45, nice boots for that price

They're wide-fitting usually and the calf leather uppers will give a bit. The thick leather soles are also very stiff at first which gives the feeling of snugness for some reason. Once the shoes/boots soften up all over the feel considerably bigger. My advice would be to get them as snug as you can, without them feeling uncomfortable and making sure the length is right. The width and overall fit will give and accommodate your foot over time. Both feet, that is.

  • how do redwing moc toe's come up?
I had some of the 6inch boots that were really wide and ended up looking really sloppy.
