  • I assumed Indonesian made when I first found them, it was only after a few emails had been exchanged that the Chinese origin came out, they've definitely omitted that from the website.

But the prices are great and quality looks not awful.

  • Think there are some fairly ingrained beliefs/stereotypes about ‘made in china’ which you could understand would cause that kind of practice.

It is likely pretty challenging to convince the lay person that items made in china are of the same ‘quality’ as those made elsewhere. So from a brand/marketing perspective I can understand this

  • I softly had the issue down as 'how/where [whom off the back of] the money is being made' - but in this the cost price is being passed on

  • Fantastic boots.

I have a tan pair and have had them for close to a decade, with one resole. So comfortable.

  • Yeah agreed - also agree with @Tenderloin… some of the reviews say that yes these are ‘made in china’ but they are made very well - I’ve got a pair of J Crew Kenton Alden Indy ‘homages’ (lol) and honesty they are excellent… the leather is buttery and they are very comfortable - as I say I’m tempted but I’m trying to make my own shoes and boots from here on out (unless I see something mad cheap in a sale or I want to copy and adapt a pattern etc)

Edit - I need to have a clear out so will list a few pairs of Church’s, C&J, George Cleverley, RM Williams and JM Weston on here later in the week if anyone is interested - maybe a pair of paraboot as well

  • If they are the original ‘spongelike’ soles, make sure you wear them often! I cosseted mine, and only wore them lightly, and the sole degraded and fell out in lumps.

    Tried to link, but failed….
    Google it though

  • Yep, for sure, but even just a little one pager that is similar to this, I think, would be great. Again, be proud of expert craftsmanship, no matter where it takes place:

The shoe community adores GS and most people don't care that they're made in China. The product speaks for itself.

  • Can I ask you exactly where you found these boots? Their factory shop is in deepest Córdoba, but I don’t fancy going all the way there. Thanks.

  • A shop just outside Ronda Spain -

  • Cheers, that’s even further away from me, but they do look nice.

  • Yeah, the veiled point was gardening centres or in that case specialist growing centers sell good stuff

Still on use but this one - Fabricacion Y Venta de Aceite de Oliva Virgen

  • TBF it’s a big jump from an allotment in the UK to an olive farm in Southern Spain.

  • I need to have a clear out...

    👀
    I think we're a similar size 9.5/10, drop me a PM please!

  • Did someone mention a 9.5 boot sale..?

  • Didn't know about them and bookmarked for my next pair of boots when I need one: Brass boot. Love the fact you get it in different widths as someone with wide feet.

  • Yeah there’s really not many brands worldwide who don’t manufacture in China. From top of the market to bottom.
    Own it!
