  • Church's womens chelsea boots?

  • good thinking

  • I just made these:-

A bit old hippy, but they are very nice to wear, can live in a saddle bag and are great when on tour as the only other footwear I need after my cycling shoes.
They are all leather, and surprisingly tough
They are moulded to my feet while the leather is wet. So the fit is perfect.
I picked up the design from a french recluse living in a hut in Southern Morocco about 25 years ago. He made me a pair which are worn out now, so I copied the design. I have a bit of finishing to do yet, but I am happy to be able to make my own footwear!

  • Good Lord.

  • I've sat here all evening waiting for riposts and that's all you have?
    Where is nuknow or GA2G?

  • "He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy..."

  • I have a pair of redwings for sale here at a bargainous price!

  • jesus, I expected to be crucified for posting those

  • great handicraft adroit, repped

  • jesus, I expected to be crucified for posting those

It's because the usual suspects haven't rocked up yet.

  • Redwing are opening a shop on Newburgh St, opening night piss-up is next Weds, 24th, 6pm

They wanted Bar Italia Scooter Club to turn up to this, hoping some of our cool would rub off on them but we were busy buffing our loafers

  • ^^they look great when they're BNIB but I can't help but think how badly they'll crease up after wearing them a few times.

  • I am the opposite, can't wait to wear them in. Don't really like the brand new look on shoes.

  • They look great.

On a different note, has anyone ever bought from Regal in Japan?

Saw a pair similar to these for decent money. Just wanted to know what their sizes are like with regards to width - saw a in a US 9.5 that would normally fit me.

  • No idea about Regal, but they look lovely.

  • Thinking of these (in Tan) for the winter.

  • They're nice. Spoke to the guys at Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair about them and he rated them highly

  • What are they, Loake?

EDIT: URL says yes. I really like Loake, the leather isn't the most luxurious going but the two pairs I've had have been really solid and very comfortable. Good shape too. What sole are you thinking of? For my posh winter boots I wish I'd gone with something suitable for wet weather, like a Dainite maybe.

  • I need some warmer winter boots - possibly with some lining. Not sure whether just to go Redwings or something else. Problem is I have size 12s so I think they might look very clumpy.

  • There's some decent Wolverines knocking about on ebay - third of the price of Redwings.

  • Are wolverines decent? I did see some for about £60

  • Don't know about the cheaper wolverine lines, but my 1000 mile boots have been good.

Any chunky leather boot with a good wool sock in should take you through winter, no need for lining unless you're out for hours in sub zero temps.

A friend of mine has the red wing chukka in a 13 I think, looks good for being so big. He normally looks like a big old L, but with these it looks much more proportionate

  • 1000 mile boots look great but are just as much as Redwings.

  • not your best bet for winter either as they have leather soles. I've got rubber half soles on mine, but it's not ideal

There's Tricker's seconds on ebay quite often, usually just over £200, and with a bit of luck you should find something with a commando sole
