  • BTW

I do own the oldest fixed in East London, or what is now the frame. First ridden in 86 when it was just me and hardened old club men who commuted on tubs.

  • Hardened old men used to commute on Hippy?

  • In ragards to:

The stand I've dreamt up will be comprised of:

[*]2 or 3 bikes, all fixed and beaten up

    [] A commuter/track bike
    [
    ]A courier bike
    [*]A polo bike

    Surely it should be;

    1. A track racing style bike.

    2. A courier/commuter bike (because they are the same thing)

    3. A polo bike OR fixed trick bike. (similar, but trick bike may look sexier than a polo nail)

I had to pay for the boob job somehow..

    You're wrong about 2 and 3?

    1. A polo bike OR fixed trick bike. (similar, but trick bike may look sexier than a polo nail)

Chance are, there's manufacturer with their own 'tirck' bike, but likely not to have their own polo bike.

  • All his bikes are copacetic. His bikes experience re-incarnation.

respect you for lots of reasons david, all on here. but this made me smile and raised that respect a notch.

cornelius - you are right. but it is not absolutely dead. it has a future. after lots of sutures.

A third of forum member wealth is controlled by about a tenth of the forum. The injustice.

i just like this so wanted to quote it. not sure how to rep ;)

for once i agree with edscoble.

    also. you're an idiot.

  • ha!

Yeah but fixed wheels seem to be losing popularity for polo. Sticking one on the stand may be viewed as some sort of example/recommendation for an ideal use of a fixed drivetrain. When it probably isn't. "Fixie trickers" are all "cool & trendy" which may draw more interested eyes to the stand.

I like David's vision though, in terms of having only beat up street bikes. Because that probably best represents what the forum/fgss is all about. The main issue was the overlap between a fixed commuter bike and a fixed courier bike, I really have no clue what the difference could be there.

What does this mean? Because some people play polo on a single speed it's a bad example for a fixed gear and SINGLE SPEED forum?

  • The polo community (despite keeping ourselves to ourselves at times) is a massive part of this forum, fixed gear tricks isn't. It would be silly to have a trick bike on the stand over a polo bike.

  • I'm fine with both, but the idea that they're the same?

To be fair, I often keo spin to save goals.

    lethal :)

No thats not it. David idea was to have three fixed bikes at the LFGSS stand. If adhering to this part of his idea, I think it might be slightly more productive to have a trick bike. Just from a really anally retentive/pedantic standpoint.

3 interesting and varied examples of well ridden fixed wheel bikes from the streets of london (or further afield for the UKFGSS contingent)

+1 no keo spin, no save

Fair enough, kinda forgot about that. Was thinking about the minor details of what would look the best on the stand. But your right, polo is a bigger part of the forum than tricks.

Pah, its late and I am thinking gibberish across the interwebz again.

  • major details, not minor.

  • David idea was to have three fixed bikes at the LFGSS stand.

Nope, it was 2 fixed bikes and a polo bike.

  • trick/polo bike

    i keo
    i win
    fixie4lyf

  • Wait... That looks like a free wheel? Ban him!

  • Snoops, your bike sucks.

  • I think the point of having a polo bike was that the polo community was represented.

I imagine that if you wanted to put a ss polo bike forward that would be fine, unless dk Is set on having only fixed bikes.

  • Sorry m a x just said that, my bad. Blame posting on an iPod
