Surely it should be;
A track racing style bike.
A courier/commuter bike (because they are the same thing)
A polo bike OR fixed trick bike. (similar, but trick bike may look sexier than a polo nail)
Polo bikes in any shape or form are good, happy for SS, etc there. Keen to have them really look alien compared to the rest of the bike show though (obviously insanely low gear, estate agent discs, etc).
Are these all going to be decal-less, anonymous bikes? If any manufacture's bike was on display it would be a serious coup - and they should really contribute for that exposure. Unless they are a small manufacture deemed worthy of support by "the community".
Also, for point 1 "A track racing style bike." - would this be a genuine track bike, likely to be used in the present day to race on? If some (albeit attractive) old 531 thing from the 70s was on display it would reaffirm many people's view that track racing is an old antiquated sport for people who don't understand gears, and that fixed gear aficionados are obsessed with defunct outdated retro gear, rather than sleek modern technology.

I'm not going to say we shouldn't put any bike up there just because it promotes a manufacturer residually. Nor am I going to say that we should attempt to get money out of a manufacturer as they'd most likely ask for more in return and I'd be extremely unwilling to concede anything extra.
Actually, let's just say I don't care who the bikes are made by nor who is redisually promoted... it won't change our behaviour. The important thing is that we in general would feel OK putting the community name against it and standing by it (which rules out Create, Unipak and Specialized - as they never did sponsor us).

So getting an Archie wilkinson up there would be good? Anyone got one of those?

There's a few in polo. But why would it "be good"?

I would be happy to loan my flouro pink Steegmans with Mavic Elipse wheels.

But Clive will you be there showing your scars and warning customers the dangers of riding in worn cleats?

There's a few in polo. But why would it "be good"?
cos they're not a big cycle company?
cos i doubt they'll be at the show?
cos they make cheap frames anyone can start with?
cos thry're making a polo specific frame?(cos they're from the midlands...and i'm biased?)
I don't play polo so just ignore me if i start talking crap - i do that a lot.

I'll be down on the travelling bike, you can have that on the stand, and since its stickered up, you'll have no decal/company issues...
-
• #586
Is it fixed? Do you have photos of it? Can I have it for all of Sunday? 9am > 5pm

Perfect.
I've adjusted the invasion plans thread to show daily slows for different bikes. Let me know what day I can have this.
Bear in mind that whatever day you all do polo, I still need a bike on the stand.

My track bike, used exclusively for racing on the track, is de-stickered. You're welcome to have it on the stand for the entire show.
-
• #589
No bike is going to be on there for the entire show.
But if you have photos I can consider it for one of the days.

• #590
Oh, and murtle... I'm stealing your bike on the Thursday.

I am hoping that the photo of my buttock scar will be on the photo wall. I can donate a worn cleat as well.

No, really, I am.
It's been pointed out it's forum property so you haven't a leg to stand on.
You going to get the day off work and come down with it?

DK: Max and I will be at the show on Friday and Saturday. You can have his bike one day, and mine another if you'd like (although mine doesn't have disk wheels. If it's a big deal, I can throw some on). I'll try and find a pic of it.
I may come Thursday as well if you need some help building.

Also, not sure if you were told this/care - but Max has been made the official LHBPA rep for the show.
-
• #599
I have updated him as I was speaking to him anyway M.
And I've already offered my bike.
Does have wheel disks. ;) -

Taking back a gift, oh the shame.
