Excellent, that's nice and clear.
So the message seems to be:
- lfgss is BIG, here to stay and getting bigger
- there's shit loads to do - whatever you're into - it's a real community
- sign up today and get involved
For me personally:
To #1, people like us that don't know what we're on about and don't see themselves as the kinda person interested in an online community even though they clearly are interested in everything we're interested in and they would like to know more people into the same shit.
To #2, to have those people register and use the forum.
Why? Because the forum is going through a little bit of a transformation and has for much of this year been slightly profitable (when factoring in donations, sponsorship in the first few months, shirts, caps, etc). We're getting some of our money from affiliate schemes and more users will equate to an increase in that revenue, and we're about to re-design to include some adverts for businesses within the community and that will guarantee profitability and so I want the forum to be as attractive as possible (numbers-wise) to those within the community who would consider advertising.
There's tons of spare resource on the servers... so I want the site to be busier so we get value for money (profitable off of what we've got, rather than scraping a survival off of what we've got).
The side-effect is that by highlighting the whole community I believe that I'll achieve the above, and that I can do good by the rest of the community by giving them a shared platform to show off what they're doing. Especially the small businesses that have sprung up because of the community, and the polo crowd who it would be great to secure a load of publicity for so that they have more choice when they seek sponsors for events.
So really... just promote the hell out of the fact that we exist and that we're here to stay and that we're nothing like everyone else and that the community is a strong voice for the community (that we don't need to be sponsored by someone else to have that voice).

1 stall agreed.
3m x 4m, E21a, right slap bang in the middle of everything.
Finding out the cost shortly, but fuck it... let's get all over this shit. I'll foot it, and if it's a dumb thing the forum won't have paid, but if it's wildly successful (lots of people sign up and advert slots on the site sell through afterwards) then I'll bill back a portion of it over time or something.
So... who really wants to be on board?

Me! Definitely happy to help on the weekend itself, plus I'm a qualified marketer and PR person (member of CIPR and CIM) so would happily do some pro bono bigging up too.

sit down on what though? that looks like a table?
make sure there's some enthusiastic, but actually approachable people on hand to chat to people coming near the stall. chances are, there are loads of people who'd be interested already who are probably just a bit intimidated.

You advertising yourself?
I meant... small cottage industries and groups within LFGSS that want a presence on the stall.
Rather than volunteers and such to put it together.
Though with a volunteer list we've so far got:
- Velocio - General crap, manning the stall, set up and tear down
- ade - Help in designing the stall
- Fox - Help with general crap and perhaps manning the stall
- Aroogah - Manning the stall.
Is that right so far? Feel free to change stuff.

David you agreed a stand without negotiating on price first?

You're supposed to negotiate?
I buy stalls like I buy bikes ;)
-
• #71
Right. Sorry - thought that was a call for volunteers. Will be on that list instead.
-
• #72
I work next door and could come in before/after working hours...
Could also offer a car parking space for free if required. -

would have thought they've gotten a rate card for stalls and he's agreed to their price. i really hope that's the case or they're not very organised.
-
• #74
I never pay full price for a stand, never. We've got the 'not for profit' card to pull too.

I haven't been given a price yet. I phoned, spoke to the woman, told her the size I was interested in, she's sending paperwork + details and has reserved the slot... take it from there shortly.
