  • I'm quite enjoying this My Fitness Pal nonsense. I found it quite entertaining when I'd eaten my entire day's calorie allowance by 2pm today and had to go for a 12 mile run to earn my dinner. I think it appeals to my masochistic side.

  • So thai kick boxing was fun, not being able to move the next day not so much.

  • Have become a recent convert to breakfast salads. This week, my regular breakfast has been a bowlful of chopped lettuce and a sliced banana with a dressing made from two teaspoons of tahini, the same amount of cocoa powder and a dash of agave syrup. If I weren't running a calorie deficit, I'd add a sprinkling of raisins or chopped nuts or granola.

Obviously doesn't deliver the carb load of my more usual porridge breakfast and I wouldn't go for a run with just that in the tank, but is plenty for a fast commute in.

  • I miss kick boxing :(

Interesting. I might give something like that a go. When in the day do you next start to feel hungry and reach for fruit/snack?

  • About 11. One advantage of salads, I think, is that it is much easier to vary and calibrate the calorie/carb content.

  • The scales at the gym said I was 82.8 Kg last night.

As this random one off weigh in, means I've lost 1.5Kg since Crimbo. I choose to not to doubt it.

Looking at last years TrainerRoad stats. I am 1 Kg lighter, and have 30w more cycling power than this time last year. So while my w/kg is still pityful. Its better than last year.

  • Fucksocks.

Logged into TrainerRoad to joyfully reduce my body weight stats.

Still had them set to 82kg, from the end of last season.

    #doingitwrong

Hmm, I need to really think about my diet, not because I'm overweight, but because a 6-month old baby now means I don't really have a life after 6pm as it involves her bedtime routine and then spending time with my partner. I feel too selfish indulging in 1-1.5hr runs after work, so I'm going to be running in the mornings at about 6am instead.

Dinner is normally my smallest meal as I don't tend to go to bed on a lot of food, or eat much after exercise. Should I be concentrating on eating certain types/quantities of food in the evening if I am going to be running/swimming early in the morning before breakfast?

I'd carb load at dinner. But thats probably not a good weight loss plan.

Try to be strict with your meals though. Its easy to get distracted by getting the kid(s) correctly fed. Then needing to snack yourself during the next free minute you get.

  • feeling better about things down from 96 to 89 just through watching what i eat cutting down on booze.

    This.

    This.

Have just let 4 days in Berlin go blank though... fuck it.

Oops.. 4kg heavier than last week :)

  • Definitely sticking to this no booze thing for February and will see where I am at the end of the month.

I sleep better, train better and eat better which makes me happier.

The fact that I have gone from Lardy in the pictures of the race i did at the beginning of january to having stomach muscles is also good :)

  • Unforunately I seem to have developed a rather unquenchable thirst for insane beers. I blame uptappd and brewdog.

  • listened to a live talk by Barb ;last Night, http://www.nutrichef.co.uk/home.html honest i did
at the end, I asked her what she thought about the news that butter wasnt as bad as we all thought it was,
she said yeah its a natural product go for it.- in moderation.-
    Beer/ cake/ butter/
    BIKERIDING

  • Anyone got a tip for something to put on bread?

    Vegetarian
    No sugar
    Tasty
Nothing that goes bad in 3/4 days

I absolutely love peanut butter but it's not the best product for weight loss.

  • Just eat the peanut butter from the jar and lose the bread.

  • What's that kind of chunky cheese spread stuff that's not full of fat?

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/547464-what-are-the-healthiest-cheeses/

  • Marmite.

  • ^Roadkill.

    Damn, failed on 2 criteria.

    Marmite?

  • Cottage Cheese is what I'm thinking of. Can get it with chives in and stuff.

    A 4-oz (113-g) serving of 4% fat product has about 120 calories, 5 g fat (3 g saturated), 3 g carbohydrates, and 14 g protein. It also contains about 500 mg sodium, 70 mg calcium and 20 mg cholesterol.
    Some manufacturers also produce low-fat and nonfat varieties. A fat-free kind of a similar serving size has 80 calories, 0 g fat (0 g saturated), 6 g carbohydrates, and 14 g protein.
To compensate for the flavor missing from the fat, low-fat and nonfat ones tend to have more sugar in them[dubiousdiscuss]. Very low sodium varieties are also produced, and can be salted to taste.
Cottage cheese is popular among dieters and some health food devotees. It is a favorite food among bodybuilders, runners, and weightlifters for its high content of casein protein (a longer-lasting protein) while being relatively low in fat. Pregnant women are advised that cottage cheese is safe to eat during their pregnancy, whereas some cheese products are not.[4]
