  • Porridge every morning for me too. Made with whole milk, served with a little butter, honey and fruit....mmmmm.

  • porridge!
    need.

  • You stood me up so you don't get any.

  • Porridge has to be one of the cheapest breakfasts around, and you can't say you don't like it because you flavour it with whatever you do like.
I add cinnamon, sultanas/blueberries, and a sprinkle of sugar over the top!

  • I had left over birthday cake for breakfast this morning.

    It's national baking week peoples!

I guess running 13 miles home for the second day in a row combined with 5 into work this morning might burn some of it off.

  • I'm now cycling 3 miles to and from work every day of the week since I've moved in with the mrs. Really enjoying it so far and my appetite hasn't gone up. I really like the idea of this eat more in the morning thing. Thinking maybe have cereal and toast in the morning then 1 sandwich for lunch and a very small dinner.

  • Oh and +1 for porridge, mmmmmm.

  • I'm all over porridge, I don't cook it though, I have it with milk and sugar just like cornflakes, the milk takes on a lovely sweet chalkiness. Got it from me dad. I also crush cornflakes before eating them.

  • Does anyone know if there's real, sciency truth to this btw? I know that I feel better when I eat like this but don't recall reading any proper research on it.

this is balls. It doesn't matter what time of day you take in your calories (apart from not eating breakfast slows your metabolism a bit) it's about total calorie intake.

I think it just comes from the situation where if you eat fuckall during the day you then pig out at dinner and eat way too much, so people assume the opposite is better.

Ever heard of muesli? Thats just uncooked oats & milk.
I like it in summer, but in winter porridge or more specifically readybrek (milled oats) are king.

No, can you get it in supermarkets?

  • No, can you get it in supermarkets?

You talked about uncooked oats like it was a weird think between you and your dad. Was just pointing out that it isnt.

Yes you can get muesli from supermarkets, but beware, they stick weird shit like nuts & dried fruit in it.

  • needing to drop some weight weight , so going back to my routine of big healthy breakie , light lunch and light dinner, i found that a big dinner would make me feel lazy the next day, also what Dogs said walking is good.

No I didn't, I said that's just how I prepare it, because it's how my old man does it. Why am I even responding to this troll?

  • I had chana masala, rice, and linda McCartney sausages for breakfast.

I've just finished a small portion of reduced fat hummus and carrot sticks and raw lemon "cheesecake" (its mostly soaked cashews) for lunch.

I'll probably have aubergine and tomato sauce with graham flour pancakes for dinner.

All in, about 1600 calories, which I off set by walking at lunch (103 calories burned) and riding the long way to and from home (400 calories burned).

    If anyone cares.

  • i know i'm a bit late.... but +1 on the gym at brockwell Lido.... I joined up in Febuary, and although i've barley been in the last two months due to being on the bike most nights of the week, i would highly recommend it... the spin classes are great for winter training when it's too cold/wet for weeknight rides. Has a nice hydrotherapy sweet too.
It's £40 a month if you sign up for 12 months.... this includes unlimited gym, pool, hydro sweet, and any classes you desire.

  • This seems to be the fatty's thread so as I need to lose atleast half a stone, I'm having a butchers

+173,967 with the porridge, gonna start necking that soon as the weather gets shitter

I found that a very good way of losing weight was quite simply a 2 week 'Greens & Fish' diet. Have a big healthy breakfast then take a box of Greens & Fish to work. I tended to try and get atleast 2 sittings out of it. One about 12.30/1 then another maybe just before leaving work about 5.30/6 or whatever - sometimes when I got home about 7ish. 2/3 sittings should be enough to fill you throughout the day.
To vary the slightly boring options I'd try broccoli, spinach, peas, courgettes etc and mix it up daily, same with fish. Salt & pepper obviously but again, vary the flavours....cumin, garlic, chilli etc....
I also cut out booze and over the 2 weeks lost 10pound

Yeah, like it a lot. S&P, garlic, nutmeg = WIN!

Just a shame you have to use about 3 bags to get a meal out of it
