Where has that been advocated?

Search this thread for protein shake.

Protein shake- in this thread- is often used to mean the Maximuscle (or Equivalent) meal replacement shake like Promax diet, etc.
Whey protein is the usual term for out and out protein shakes.
From that search, and knowledge of the people who are using them as meals.

Promax Diet is basically Promax with some caffeine and green tea extract.
Protein shake is the usual term for protein shake
Anyway, I've no idea what your point is now.

Nevermind, its not important.

Thats ridiculous.
Good work. All I really did was stop drinking (sorry Norths and Easts) and eat more homemade food.
Both were essentially a consequence of getting married.
Oh, and my commute went up from 6 miles to 11 and became much more aerobic with longer, faster sections.
I've never had a protein shake in my life, I have no idea what my vo2max or body fat % is and I don't really do any exercise apart from the ride to work and back.
I hovered at 75kg for a good month or so, but now it's beginning to drop a bit more. The discovery of Strava will probably knock a few more kg off.
Around 65kg is my hand-wavy target - the belly & moobs should be gone by then.

Whey protein is a food in my book.

15st bang on this morning. will weigh again in 2 days and see if it's stuck.
cannot wait to see the scales read 14st *X*lbs again.
Well done!
I'd be stoked if I saw 15st on the scales again. How tall are you and frame small/medium/large?
It's a great feeling isn't it to dip down into the next whole number even if it's in the upper reaches. I dipped down into 17st at 17st 13lbs yesterday. It's the first time I've been 17st something for a good 3 to 4 years.

Now that I'm 13st something (6 foot 2, broad build) I'm not sure I like it. Sounds weak.

Seconded.
Get down the gym, followed by the pie shop ;)
I keep seeing myself in the mirror and thinking I'm skinny. Which is fecking crazy. So I'm obviously falling into some self image trap here. I think buying new better fitting clothes is probably a good idea.

Also your weight sounds good. But you are far too tall.
Work on that.

Sprinting, not jogging, helps men lose harmful belly fat faster, scientists in Sydney found.
Eight-second bursts of sprinting on an exercise bike repeated intermittently for 20 minutes helped overweight men lose 2 kilograms (4 pounds) of body fat over 12 weeks, researchers at the University of New South Wales said today. Importantly, there was a 17 percent reduction in fat stored around their liver, kidneys and other internal organs that is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease.http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-28/sprinting-not-jogging-sheds-more-harmful-belly-fat-study-says.html
Interesting but not terribly surprising. thought it would be of some interest here. -

^ Does not work on everyone.
This was covered by BBC docu a while back.
-
• #4390
That doc was rather interesting when it was on tv.
On a side note - I've fallen off the band wagon - no idea how much I weigh at the moment and have been giving in to sweet cravings too much.

So traffic lights aren't good for just a breather then!

cheers.
dipped down to 14st13.25lb today but again I like to see the same number a few days running before I accept it as a loss rather than a fluctuation.
being back on the bike is the biggest help though. i'd have to starve myself to get the calorie deficit i need to lose 2lbs a week compared to my 'typical' eating routine. which a varying 12/18/24mi daily commute I could eat 4 meals a day if i wanted.
strangely my losing weight seems to have kicked in the weight loss for my girlfriend. i think perhaps as I seem like i give a shit about what I eat now she's being more serious with her intake too. double win.

I find that. I shift weight just on the whole stop/start nature of riding a bike about town. I like to think of it as interval training.

Slow and steady, running and cycling, is my main calorie muncher. Evidently not from my ponch though.

Anyone used Phd diet before?
Serious contender for taking to Kenya for lunches. -

Serious contender for taking to Kenya for lunches.Had their basic protein powder and it was ridiculously sweet and chemically :(

Hmmm...
does not bode well.
I need something I can have on the go whilst in clinic- so going out and getting local food won't happen everyday. -

I am a fat bastard.
Ever since I stopped going to the gym and upped the amount of cycling my weight has been steadily climbing.
Bah.

• #4399
These arrived yesterday. No place to hide.
Clocked in at 80kgs (5ft 9").
At my smallest I was 64kgs.Hoping to split the difference and get to 72kg.

80kg at 5' 9" seems like a very healthy weight. Are you sure you are fat?
Protein shakes as meal replacements != diet shakes.
