I'm around 80kg and 32" waist - how does that work?

I'm wider but weigh less.
The shorts I've currently got on: 36" waist.
That was basically my wake-up call. I've gone from 30" to 36" in about 2 years, whilst only putting on about 6KG in that time.
80% of my wardrobe is now useless. I figure changing me is cheaper than changing all my clothes... I have some pretty nice clothes, good cuts.
I was always told my skinny shape would vanish aged 24, then aged 30, then aged 35. I kept it for ages, but my waist has finally given up on me and now I need to work to get control of it again. From here on out, I expect the rest of my life to be an exercise in maintaining fitness and shape, rather than improving fitness.

Aiming for sub 10.
I will get there. I must.On the note of vitamin/ mineral supplementation- there's a signifigant effect of some on each other.
http://www.ajcn.org/content/68/1/3.full.pdfVit D also works synergistically with Calcium. Too much calcium can be an issue especially when it is mainly derived from dairy.
Higher levels of dietary fiber (plant based) usually result in higher levels of iron and thus higher levels of Hemoglobin.
For the vast majority of people diet NOT supplementation is the key.

How does that work with my diet of cookies, pizza and icecream?

I'm >85kg, with a BMI of 30, and a 32" waist.
I'm having a bit of a delayed reaction to my intense weight training period. I was spending over half my 'family-free-time-tokens' in the gym, and eating masses of protein.
I've now ran out of protein and am doing a more balanced.....
20% - Rugby
20% - Running
25% - Cycling
35% - Weights....yet my work shirts have become tighter over the chest and arms over the last couple of weeks (some have been thrown away). I wonder if it could be a posture thing.

It's up to you if you wish to respect your body or not. It is you will have to live (or not) with the consequences.

this is an example of how useless BMI is, your weight, height and waist would paint a clearer picture.

My body is less of a temple, more of a cult.

Hit 90kg!
come a long way from 108kg last Jan and I'm happy to say it's been lost through exercise, healthy eating etc.
Works out at about 1kg per month steadily whilst improving fitness+strength etc
:D
Now I just need a job to put it all back on again....Well done! That's a great way to do it.
Have you found it tough?

I only quote my BMI for its comedy value. Standing up, I cant pinch much in the way of fat, and what I'd descibe as a six pack, with the bottom two cans not quite exposed from the tescos shopping bag.
Just need to work off that little ponch.

Brilliant stuff - I agree with you that's it more of life style changes. I don't even think of sweet stuff in the evening now.
All that's missing for me is cycling every day which I do miss.

Easy way of measuring body fat %?
Get a date with a glamour model after telling her that you're broke.
-

I have tried a few of the Salter scales, the body fat% is way out on them all.
Scales are a bloody awful way of 'measuring' body fat. They don't actually measure fat at all, just electrical resistance between your feet. Wildly inaccurate I'm afraid.

Can't get below 80 kg without any exercise, so I'm back on the bike (and nomen omen, my back hates it!). Still lost 16 kg since visited this thread for the first time, so thank you.
Unfortunately lost half an inch from my biceps (might be fat) and all the leg muscle. This mirror is fucked anyway. Makes things appear smaller.
(I know...)

Looking good eei.
I'm seriously thinking about mine as well. Need more batteries for the scales but I'm determined to hit that 77.5 mark first. But I might like to add I only do press ups as well as cycle so I don't think I'll be looking hench any time soon.

Bad news :( basically my sister's thyroid gland has ceased to function and she will have to be on daily medication for the rest of her life.
Posting here as she has had trouble keeping her weight down recently too and I hear these may be connected? Does anyone have or know of someone with the same issues? Is it common? Can it get worse? Should I worry?
Thanks for help! -

We do not know the specific details of her condition, so even if we were consultant level medical professionals we would struggle to provide any advice over what you have already had.
Good news is that pharmaceutical hormones are just as good as natural ones, so if this is what she is going to be taking she should expect everything to be normal. Hormones are not "drugs" so as long as everything is in the right doses she should not get any side effects.
I am speaking very generally though, I only have a broscience understanding of endocrinology.

I was at 80kg in March but then went to the US for a month, after which I went back up to 83kg. Happily I'm down to 80kg again, just in time for climbing Ventoux this weekend. I will be interested to see how I find climbing the high mountains compared to last year when I was 86(ish).
I still have a belly, I thought by the time I got to 80kg it would have gone, but there is still a fair bit there. Thats the only place I have a scrap of fat on me though.
Well, my intention is stop at 72KG, 10% body fat or 32" waist... whichever comes soonest and is sustained for at least 7 consecutive days.
Body fat can be measured by any good electronic set of scales.
