  • Daft question:
I've been on meds which completely destroy your appetite. The trouble is when you come off them your stomach and brain have no idea about when you feel full - you feel starving hungry 24/7. I've never really been one for midnight munchies, but I'm finding this is happening more often.

Any suggestions to retraining your brain? The usual stuff like taking at least 20 minutes over every meal is not working.

    Has anyone here tried hypnosis?

Just want to update you where I am on this... It seems after a few weeks your body adjusts itself naturally. The cravings have stopped and feel like I'm back in control.
It hasn't been without consequence though... I'm now the heaviest I've ever been. :(

Am back in the gym but taking it very slowly. Not allowed to do more than 3-4 mins on the bike at the moment.

  • On the note of appetite control- you've basic 2 options.

    1. Is substitution so that all your snack cravings are met but also low calories. For this I tend to use things like Goji berries, or some coleslaw made without mayo, or some kale chips.

    2. The other method that is working really well with me (normally I'm a massive snacker) is to replace the activity break that snacking requires with some other behaviour, just a 2 minute walk outside seems to work out brilliantly.

That and the enforced 'fast' days are enabling me to control what is normally massive appetite, but I think that fasting and certain medications are not compatible, so I would not recommend that for your situation.

    That and green tea.

  • Is it wrong that I enjoy doing Liz's Jillian Michaels circuits dvds so much? Fucking knackering but nice and varied. Topped it off with a quick 1 mile run round the park. Might go for a proper run later.
Back to eating properly today as well. Must remember to go off the wagon on sunday, not fri or sat so nuff time to fix it again before weigh-in.
By the way, where are people getting their Promax? Seen it for just shy of £30/tub on ebay, fuck paying £40 in H&B. Can't afford to get it in bulk at the mo to get a decent discount.

  • I used this place quite a lot
    http://www.thesupplementstore.co.uk/protein_powders/maximuscle-promax-maximuscle_promax_908g.htm
    £25.99

My impression of Maximuscle was that you are mainly paying for the branding though, and there are others that do the same job but for less money. Would like to nkow if others with more knowledge on the subject agree/disagree?

Also I really like the H&B raw protein powder - I flavour it with coco and cinammon - does anyone else make good unflavoured mixes?

  • I remember upsthread someone saying the alternatives mostly tasted like shite.
Would be good to know if there was a cheap alternative tho.

  • It was me, I've only tried the usn promax diet equvalent and it was unbearable.

I still have most of the tub though so if you want it ed you're welcome to it, I assume it hasn't gone off from the last 6 months of being under my desk...

I don't have any tips on finding it cheap without buying multiple packs though, firtunately had a bit of spare cash at the beginning of the month to make the investment.

  • I'll pass thanks. I'm struggling with the taste of choccy promax as it is. Might go for strawberry next time. Shame the 600g tubs aren't quite half the price or it'd be easier to get a few flavours to relieve the monotony.

  • Only .5kg for me this week, been uping the exercise though so not all bad.

Hopefully have copied over the link correctly
    Ok speadsheet is set up.

    PHD is the best.

  • Going the right way with my weight which is good. Under 13 now next step is 12 and a half. Shouldn't take too much work ill carry on doing what I'm doing. Just had a chocolate bar too :)

Oh and 2 weeks the commute racks up to 20 miles, if that's not a weight loss method I don't know what is!

  • Right way is the only way I think. Fuck knows why signing up to a spreadsheet with you cunts has inspired me to stick to it. Bummed I didn't loose anything this week but it's totally self-inflicted and these things take time after all.
Running to and from work every day is the plan now. It's only 2.7mi each way so barely worth getting the bike out for. Locked into doing Jillian dvds in the morning with Lady Liz as well. Circuits + cardio + bike fortheweightlosswin. Still not gonna sign up to the gym tho. Just can't face that shit.

+1 for my protein, I've been using their products for years, great products and really helpful customer service too! if you guys feel like using code MP93461 when you place your first order as well, then I get referral points, which is always pleasant!

  • +1 for myprotein.com

Well priced, fast delivery times and lots of offers.

I use their Impact Diet Whey. Tastes like shit but does the job really well. Check it out

200cals per serving, 30g of protein, some fibre to keep you full up and some oats for a bit of energy.

  • I have the impact whey protein at home (where I got to an actual gym) and do weights.
Should I order some, for when I finish exercising/occasional weight training/plyometrics etc? Will there be any value in it.

*I fucking love the taste of the vanilla with water.

I'm exactly the same I think It's the competitive element that's making it exciting. As long as I see that chart going downwards I don't care. I know they'll be a period this year when things plateau out but hopefully this forum will keep us all going so we all stay on track.

I'm not looking for some kind of magic overnight weight loss. I understand it'll take time and I still want to enjoy my cycling without the risk of a bonk every time I head out the door.

  • up a couple pounds thanks to my crash last week. missed 4 days off the bike as couldn't commute and was generally inactive due to massive shoulder pain. This also lead to bad eating habits as I was being lazy and also felt like I needed some 'comfort' foods to help take my mind off my injuries.

back to calorie counting today and back on the bike though

  • Keep yer head up hatbeard, apparently the secret to dealing with setbacks is to focus on the big picture and long term good and forget the short term bad I.e. when things get hard so focus on long term weight loss you have made

Finding this useful for both running when I miss a session or I miss a target time, and weight loss...

After a crappy weekend when I didn't stop getting hunger pangs and therefore consumed my bodyweight in crap weighed in at 75kg this morning :o so remembering that I've lost 10kg overall is stopping me from having a mid morning snack!

  • ah I'm not phased at all by it. just had a bad week is all..

  • OK a couple of things, have added myself to the spreadsheet for ongoing weight loss on this thread but can't now find the spreadsheet and have no easy access to it as a result and actually have no idea if I'm actually on it or not. Plus I found it originally by doing a search in posts not threads for 'spread sheet' this was the only way I could find it after seeing a reference in this thread. Is there any way to make it simpler to find?!

  • Henners maybe update the OP for the mongz?

  • Done.

  • I've bookmarked it too because I'm a nerd :)

  • Along with my 'two letter word list' for scrabble.

    You're on it.
    Its one of my bookmarks.

Great. I'm using Chrome as browser of choice and have been for a while, can't see an obvious way to bookmark once the sheet is open but hey ho I can always try to remember this page in the thread or something...
