Christ, yes. They shouldn't be touting for business.
And Theoazb shouldn't be chasing ambulances, by the same token ... oh wait.
-
• #7305
Was it an actual ambulance ambulance or a van sized private taxi someone wrote ambulance on the side of? Those guys do what they like
-
• #7306
Yeah, actual ambulance are awesome drivers, but the private kind can be complete dick.

I wasn't sure whether to report this to the police so I didn't but want to know if I should have.
I had to skid and fell off my bike but someone else might have had to crash into this guy. One of those corporate saloon driving wankers.
I was going through a medium sized roundabout to turn right and was positioned as far inside as could be. I didn't signal initially but did so as I started to turn, and was going at about 15mph so got back on the bar as I banked across. The first driver stopped and waited, but that wanker was in the next lane behind that one and clearly had sight of me but decided to carry on at full speed. I would have definitely hit him, potentially going underneath a wheel but ended up on my arse.Felt unsure as if it was a two lane roundabout it would have been my fault for not signaling I want to move outside, but it's really only a one laner so you aren't allowed to overtake or cut up whilst going around.
Thoughts?

I can't work out from your description where the drivers were--in the circulatory carriageway or in one of the entrances to the roundabout that you passed in the process of turning right?
-
• #7311
it was a G4S one, so it's really my fault for not anticipating an incompetent driver.

I nearly got decked by a legit ambulance whilst riding home from the Leyton cross race.
It came past us with its lights on, then about 100 yards ahead, indicated and pulled left across the raised segregated cycle track were were on then straddled the pavement to the inside of the cycle lane and stopped, lights and engine off.
As we rode past it, the driver re-started the van and pulled out to the right across the cycle lane, nearly decking me in the process.

From what I can work out, he wasn't behind this turning vehicle, rather in front of it, because the vehicle would have been heading west along whitechapel road to 'turn right into brick lane'.
(edit: sorry going back a bit to the last page here)

They were in the entrance that was 12 o clock from where I entered the roundabout and which I had to pass to get to the 3rd exit
-
• #7315
So you were in the circulatory carriageway, which means that you have priority over drivers entering the roundabout. The driver was at fault. I take it when you say that you were 'as far inside as could be' that means you were positioned prominently and not close to the edge--there's really no excuse for the driver. (They would have been at fault even with excuses.)

Last night riding down Haymarket, a car speeds up to pass me and then immediately turns across my path. Slammed on the back brakes, avoided a collision, and rode past his window to say 'WTF?' He just let his tongue hang out and shook his head like a Maori warrior.
Report? Can't remember what car it was or the licence plate, but seems like he was deliberately being a tool.

noticed more daily dickery, mostly late or no indication, pulling out and not giving way.
non-cyclist friends have labelled me as someone with "bike rage"... discuss
Well, speaking as a lawyer I would have to say yes, but also, possibly, no. To put it another way, there are many alternatives. It behoves us to be elliptical.
Speaking as a layperson I would say certainly, without a shadow of a doubt, but, then again, there are two, and often three or even four, sides to every story.
Speaking as a psychiatric inpatient I would say many things, not all of them, by objective standards, unreasonable or unlikely, and therein lies the rub.
I think that clears up the matter for now.
