• Can we get some arbitrary statistics please?

  • 65% of this page is bollocks and 8 out of 10 cats would shit on the bonnet too.

  • I'm seriously going to practice laying a turd while cycling... The ultimate deterant to tailgating.

No laying the turd. What you need is the farty poo. You can splatter the windscreen behind you.

  • Being safe > being right.

Buuuullshit.. being right is almost as important as being fast.

  • I forgot about this until something jogged my memory just now but I saw a bus on Camden Road completely ignore a red light the other day, it wasn't like it just changed and he carried on, it was red while he was approaching and stayed red as he drove through it but apparently he did not give any fucks.

  • some guy shouted at me today out of the window of his mate's car, the lights then turned red slightly down the road so i caught up and, as calmly as i could, i asked him if he'd said something to me, to which he replied in a very arrogant manner "i said BOO!". i managed to bite my lip and tell him that he was really funny and original etc (instead of the usual torrent of swear words) and later down the road i photographed the car and license plate. i just want to ask: is it worth me reporting it to the police or will it just be a frustrating waste of time? thanks in advance (for putting up with my cool story)

  • If this is an accurate and fulfilling account of today's events, personally I wouldn't bother reporting it... Pick your battles.

  • What's the problem here? someone shouted at you and drove off.

    Is that all?

  • yes, report what?

  • boo

  • Boohoo!

  • Bah...

  • okay, it's not completely accurate. they were waving machetes and imitation firearms at me, and one of them had a pelican on his lap and it didn't have a seatbelt or anything. thanks for being my shoulder to cry on.

  • Don't respond to shouts, I don't respond to beeps either, sometimes it's mates saying hello but I wish they'd stop.

  • No one said anything about a pelican.

  • motherfucking pelican.

  • A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His beak can hold more than his belly can.

  • It's called bikepacking in another thread.

  • Pelicans... WAC!

  • If she's dangerously close, and not altering her behavioiur any time soon, then why doesn't he just let her past?

    Being safe > being right.

Top marks for being an indignant self-righteous passive-aggressive camera-wearing douche nozzle though.

This x10000. This indignant cyclist shtick is causing more harm imo. If she seriously scaring or endangering you, then fine take a stance but would you rather have an aggy nob behind the wheel behind you or just behind the wheel?

  • The world would be a fucking shit place if everyone was a passive aggressive wanker who picked up on everyone who was in the wrong.

I think that the world might be even more of a shit place if people went round behaving in stupid selfish dangerous ways safe in the knowledge that there was no chance whatsoever of anyone stepping in to pull them up on what they were doing.

People who rise above provocation deserve credit, as do people who risk their own health and well-being to stand up to people who are in the wrong.

    There is no easy answer.

Compared to some of the shit pulled on the roads (in both directions) that was not a situation worthy of escalation.

  • **Summary
**11th Feb incident, reported to the police, with one witness

    Today (22nd Oct)
Driver was proven to have driven without due care and attention and received a **5point licence endorsement /£400 fine, £650 in costs and £40 **victim surcharge.
The driver chose not to attend the hearing and I went and helped the court understand.

Lesson - these things take a little time but it is worth reporting. Be clear and concise in your witness statement. This might have been resolved in September but court dates clashed with other commitments.

As the case was a road traffic incident, it is handled by a central unit not a specific station/officer. City of London magistrates and other magistrates dotted around London handle 'RTA' (road traffic act incidents) from this central unit.

There is a preliminary hearing in June and the driver has been charged with 'driving without due care and attention'

    **Tips
**I was told by police - if the driver drives off and you **call **101 (or 999 if it is serious) then the traffic cameras (particularly in the congestion zone) can pick up the driver on the same day and stop them.

Forms. Yes you have to fill out a form and return it to a central unit but you shouldn't be discouraged. These incidents take time to process.

Independent witnesses. I had one and make sure you get their details. I am convinced that this is the reason that this incident is going to court

All I can do is reinforce the 'what do in case of an accident' notes
