Not at all. A school minibus (!) driver boxed me in twice and drove aggressively towards me early on Monday morning to work.

The incident involved him getting out of the van and trying to hit me, however the charge related to his driving not actions outside the van.

The magistrates did ask me if there were any passengers children in the van but I think both behaviour and sanction would have been different if that was the case.

Those of you that know me know that I'm big and ugly enough to prevent those drivers who lose it from doing anything more than shouting but something happened that morning. I think the costs order is standard however the 5pts might have been imposed because the driver chose to attend. The guilty party receives both the fine and the penalty points.

I thought his behaviour on the day was unacceptable; that his job is to drive a school mini-bus made it even more so.I wouldn't want any of you to have to use your bike as a barrier to prevent yourself from being injured or hit.

Re: Overtaking Cyclists

Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so. You should give cyclists at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car.
DO NOT overtake where you might affect other road users such as where a road narrows, approaching the brow of a hill, or if it would cause others to swerve or slow down.
Don’t follow too closely and pass really wide making sure you don’t cut in too soon. Cyclists are now taught to ride in the centre of their lane, DO NOT hassle cyclists riding like this.
Also stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction and you intend to turn left.

mental bus driver in manchester today, riding in the bus lane along oxford road middle of the lane with a girl in front of me, bus in the 2nd lane decides 'oh shit i need to be in the bus lane right now' and swings right into the pair of us

we both swerve to the left, she slams her brakes on, me paying too much attention to said bus come mm's from colliding with her. poor girl was knocked and got off her bike and onto pavement.

said she was going to walk for a bit but seemed alright, tried to get on to talk to bus driver but I had a left turn and couldn't be bothered detouring just wanting to get home. arse.

They can be right cunts down there. Before or after you came cardboard hunting? Report it and they might be able to find out who it was but there are so many buses down there I doubt they'll bother to check all the CCTV.

Clipped by a white van man today somewhere in Peckham/Camberwell (was riding vaguely north from home, having moved house a week ago). Stopped and got very shouty with him, then a police car came past and I flagged them down. He didn't have a fantastic grasp on the language and told me at various points that he didn't see me, had barely touched me, didn't touch me, that I was in the middle of the road, that it had been a tricky spot to overtake, that he wasn't speeding so it was OK - just ranty nonsense. Police told me that they couldn't prove anything so wouldn't take any action - is overtaking dangerously not a crime? Officer also told me that cycling is a "dangerous game". Thanks.

When I left they were checking his insurance details and I heard the radio squawk: "no matching details". Hope for his sake that all his paperwork is in order...

I should say that by "clipped" I mean very, very barely brushed. No damage, just could have been taken out very easily.

A Saturday encounter with a well-known London coach operator.

We spoke earlier about the two incidents on Saturday 26th October concerning one of your drivers and myself on a bicycle.

The details are:

Registration Plate — *********

6:15pm — Southbound on Southwark Bridge

Cycling with a friend, we approach the pinch point after the segregated cycle lane, right check our shoulder and see the coach emerge over the peak of the bridge (you can't see over, so he had no way in knowing what was on the other side). He was driving far too fast for the situation (I'd approx 35mph), and instead of braking on seeing us at the pinch point, he instead flashed his full-beams and carried on at the same speed. We had to take evasive action to get out of the way.

6:35pm — Southbound on Grove Vale / Goose Green Roundabout / Lordship Lane

Now alone, I'm cycling in the right hand lane as there's an obstruction in the bus lane. Again, I right check over my shoulder, and lo and behold, who speeds up behind and tailgates, but the driver from the previous incident. He did not know I was the same person. He tailgated me to the roundabout, and then pulled wide and shouted out the window something along the lines of, "I'll fucking have you off if you don't hurry up". He then proceeded to tailgate me on the busy stretch of Lordship Lane as I turned off at East Dulwich Grove.

I don't really have to explain the severity of the matter to you, but I really struggle to see why your driver puts his home time over the life of another human being. I find the most chilling part of the situation that the incident was not a one off. This is how your driver sees fit to treat other road users. I have a full driving license, and I'm a careful cyclist. I dread to think how your driver treats others less confident to take the lane in front of his coach.

In terms of actions, I'd first kindly ask for you to look over the CCTV from the coach, as we spoke about on the phone.

I'd also like to receive a copy of the CCTV from the coach between 18.10 and 18.40 on 26.10.20.

And of course, I'd like the driver's name and details so that I can report his actions to the police.

I was concerned to learn of the incident you described as drivers should take extra care when near cyclists. In view of your comments the driver involved has been interviewed by his garage manager and the matter has been discussed with him. As a result appropriate action has been taken with regard to this occasion and to ensure that our expectations are met in future. I regret that I cannot be specific about the action taken against the individual in this case as this would be a breach of our agreements on staff confidentiality. A range of sanctions is, however, available depending on the driver’s previous record.

We have recently set up a training course in conjunction with Cycle Training UK that concentrates on cycle safety and involves drivers spending half a day on a bike to gain first hand experience of London's roads. I would add that all our drivers are regularly monitored covertly by our own training staff, TfL’s Mystery Shoppers and staff from AA Drivetech and their reports are kept on the driver’s personal record, as are complaints such as yours. Naturally any adverse reports are acted upon swiftly.

850-855 north clapham station, pelting down bedford road (heading north) chasing a green light to turn into clapham high street (heading north). I take up prime position as the road is wet as fuck and there is debris all in the left side of the road. All of a sudden this guy in a people mover starts with the beeping whilst driving on the wrong side of the road trying to overtake me. I assume the reason for this is that he realised there is a median strip coming up and he will not have enough time to finish his manoeuvre before either hitting it or me.

Normally more than happy to sit in a left of the lane but not when I'm about to take a turning at speed in the wet.

So some angry words exchanged and he just drives off... so I cycle as I never cycled before and my little legs catch up to him as at the set of red light by stockwell. I take my phone, take the licence place and his face. The cunt waves at me like he's being real friendly. I get ready to let rip as he winds the window down... only to realise he's got a kid in the back. So I swallow the biggest load of abuse and come here to vent. All I feebly came out with is "You're being reported to the police".

So can I report him? There is no witnesses and since there was no incident I doubt police will take much interest? I do have his mug and license. I probably should read this whole thread where all of this is explained but I am too fucking angry...

Also to the lady at the next set of light that probably saw steam coming out my ears and asked about my well being - thank you I am fine, I was just full of abuse and afraid of starting to speak as it would all come flying out.

The bit I've highlighted in bold is bollocks. I'd write back and ask what their range of sanctions are and which sanction was used in this case. Since they haven't shared the drivers details with you, there's no breach of confidentiality.

NO!!! But I definitely should. Monday saw my girl (3 in January) cycle on her balance bike all the way from home to nursery. 24 very focused minutes, with her tongue out in concentration all the way! Was kinda chuffed to follow her and practise my track stand all the way.

Yes. Not only can you, but you should. Since he is obviously a total wanker, it is unlikely this is the only time he will express his wankerdom by endangering others. The more the filth's limited intelligence-gathering services know of his utter wankerdom, the more likely they are to do something when he eventually flattens some poor sod who didn't deserve it. So report away.

So this cheeky chappie cut me up several times on my journey home:

Driving too fast, crossing the white line into the bike lane, passing and immediately turning left, that sort of thing.

When I got home I emailed the company, the Met Roadsafe team, and TFL (as the company was part of the FORS scheme).

I've had two emails from FORS saying that they are following up as a matter of priority. (nothing from the Met or Seales Haulage though). Quite impressed with how prompt TFL have been. Will post any updates.

With a plate like BIG **** nothing is a surprise.
