  • I have GiffGaff unlimited data and thank fuck tbh, minimum use is about a gig and a half, most I've manged was 16gb in a month

  • Wtf? You are aware of wifi, right?

  • That was when our internet was down for 4 days, the same 4 days as the riots so I pretty much had the bbc video newsfeed streaming the whole time as it was kicking off in every adjacent town to me, plus I was providing a wifi hotspot for my housemate who was following various other newsfeeds (against the Ts and Cs I know but there were sort of extenuating circumstances)

  • Ah, makes sense.

  • Apparently the galaxy nexus will be getting jellybean when its released which could be as early as this month at the IO conference.
It seems strange seeing as so many carriers and OEMs have been so slack with pushing out ICS.

Very impressed with the nexus actually. The battery life is great, its been at around 75% by around 9pm having come off charge first thing am.
Web browsing seems to be its main drain for some reason, more so than anything else in fact. Going to try chrome and see if that is less hard on the CPU.

  • Yep I've noticed with S2 that the web browser takes up a lot of the battery usage.

  • Yep I've noticed with S2 that the web browser takes up a lot of the battery usage.
According to 3G Watchdog it also accounts for most of the data usage.

Makes me wonder if apps get images etc. through the browser or something? I read a lot through Google Reader but I think that falls under the browser's usage. I haven't looked into it that much.

  • Making sure you close windows is the biggest problem. As the browser won't auto close them you can quite easily end up with all 10 windows open.

  • Have you tried Dolphin? I find it infinitely better than the stock browser on my htc.

  • I've tried dolphin on iOS but it just can't touch safari so I never went back to it. Chrome actually feels faster than the stock browser having used it briefly. Will have to see if theres a difference in battery life.

  • Yep I've just got hold of chrome too.

  • Also find that when using wi fi I turn off 3g really don't need it on.

  • Any recommendations for a car holder 'thingie' for a HTC Sensation?

I already have a ciggie lighter charger and I'm looking for the best in-car GPS use holder 'thingie'

Excuse my extremely technical 'thingie' description.

  • I can only recommend not buying one of the universal £15 ones. They have always been shit for me.

Does this mean you have bought a car??

  • Yeah, got one the other week. As expected it's been filled up, parked and left there untouched. :)

  • Ha!

Also, it seems chrome is in fact less of a battery killer than the default browser.
52 hours on battery and counting...

  • So, I killed my Orange San Francisco riding home in the rain last night, and it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of coming back to life.

I'n now trying to decide what I should replace it with.

I'm looking at buying sim free so that I can continue to use my current rolling contract, I can get a virtually new (returned within 14 days) Galaxy S II for £260 (£50 discount from Virgin Mobile), or a Galaxy Nexus for £285

I'd want to chat to simply before I ordered from them, but thoughts people?

  • Sf2?

  • I was thinking of buying an Orange San Fran from Orange so that I get the warranty. Are there any other sub £100 options? Also if I do get a San Fran are there any faults to look out for?

  • Faults: any network's own Android build.

  • The phone is ZTE, just sold through networks and branded by them. Orange, T-mobile, vodafone...

Really that bad? Do you mean the phone or the OS?

  • Phone is great running CyanogenMod Android but networks' OS versions are invariably disappointing.

  • Can the SF2 run CyanogenMod though? the SF can, I'm not certain that the SF2 can

  • Hmmm, I'll pop into an Orange store and try to play with one tomorrow then.

That does make it more tempting, although I would have rather liked the newer phones. Still, if I can get another 2 years for sub £100, that would be good.
