  • The Google Pixel page does have the option to compare 3 phones.
The 8Pro is currently not discounted, meaning the 9 is better value.

I'm still sore that I needed* to buy a replacement phone just before a Pixel launch.
This 6a was within a couple of weeks was worth £100 less.
(* Moto G5G went for a swim in the River Pinn.
it did eventually dry out, but I 'needed' a phone for the next day).

  • deleted useful functions like memory card storage, user replaceable battery

Samsung XCover says hi, and with 7 years of security updates on the Enterprise Edition.

  • I didn't optimise for phone size (remember a case adds size) and always regretted it. I optimised for camera and clean operating system. I've been happy with my pixel 6, and the warranty on it was very smooth.

  • Yeah I looked at "on the page" comparisons but half of it is stuff like what chip they have where I can't tell the difference! Or at least, I might be able to work out what's better but have no idea what it will feel like...

Weirdly if I go pro Google is £100 more expensive than loads of places (inc eg John Lewis). £900 pro or c.£600 for the non-pro 9 (or more like £450 for the 8)

  • I too was tempted by the 8pro for telephoto lens alone but plumped for a 7a and kept the £300. It's fine, has a similarly long update schedule.

  • Withings watch. Has anyone managed to get one to pair with Pixel phone. Tried now on 3 different ones, 5,6 and 8a to no avail. The 5 has had a complete reset with only bare minimum set up on it and still will not link. It says device detected then "an unexpected error occurred. Please try again" it says the same on all phones.

  • Buying new phones, don't forget the option of CEX and 2nd hand. They offer full 5 year warranty, better than any makers. If you get an 'A' they come boxed with all accessories. No affiliation.
