Well, sort of...

What are you on about?
I am "on about" the fact that rooting your 'phone is not quite just a case of "plugging your 'phone into your computer". As the link in my post testifies to...

Have you looked at unrevoked, the software I was referring to, and said is "pretty much" as easy as just plugging your phone in? Because that's what it is.
And why am I going to read a thread about whether the Desire will get gingerbread to find some random scrap of information (which I'm assuming is there somewhere) about how hard it is to root?

Here are the instructions for Unrevoked.
Download the version of Unrevoked for your OS from unrevoked.com
Connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable
If you are running Linux or Mac, you should be all set on the drivers; if you are running Windows, you need to install the drivers that come with the release (called HBOOT)
Run the app and it should do the work after a single click -

I'm not saying the process is difficult , just not as easy as you appeared to be making it out to be.
Are you the Rootmaster?

You made no point. You posted a link to some thread.
And you're wrong. It is as easy as I made it out to be.

Unless it's not that easy.. but that's another story..

• #4284
I hate that story.
Anyway. Last time I share ground breaking news like my experience with super-easy rooting with this thread. Douche bags gonna douche.

Douchebag? Who the hell uses douchebag as an insult, apart from a complete Hornblower that is?

Shame that, because Mr Hornblower's recommended method was just so super-easy...

The type of person who doesn't rely on ad hominem remarks - rather than sucking it up and saying "oh, I didn't realize it had become so easy!" - when they've been proven to be a douche bag.
Sincerely,
Horatio Hornblower -

Well done for helping someone out with something, rather than just posting snide remarks on the internet.

Whatever... I don't like being insulted for no good reason is all.
I was only pointing out, nicely if you can bother yourself to read back, that rooting a 'phone is not as simple as just plugging the damn thing into a PC.
Don't brick your 'phone now!

I'm just kidding... ;]
Horatio's a dick too, I'll neg rep him just to make things fair...

Since you are having trouble following the conversation, here is what happened:
Anyway, how did you root your phone, Mark? You've got an iBook, right?
I used unrevoked. I did it on my PC, but if you use a Mac you skip a step (updating USB drivers on the phone). It's pretty much as simple as plugging the phone into your computer.
Well, sort of...

I still have no idea what you're on about. That link has nothing to do with unrevoked. And as far as I can tell, nothing to do with rooting. I was never snide, just confused.
What is more, what I said is pretty accurate. On a mac the process is this: Download software. Load software. Plug phone in. I would call that "pretty much as simple as plugging in your phone." In fact I did.

Contained in the link I posted, third post down?, is another link to "Rooting for Noobs" (or something), useful info regardless of what software you are gonna use to root a device.
Was just pointing up that there is a little more to Rooting, as you have now pointed out yourself, "Download software. Load software".
Twas all...

I was supposed to click on a link in the third posters signature to discover what you were on about?
And if you check it out, here is how it "instructs" people to root their phones:
Root with unrevoked3
Surely my description is far superior! Although I forgot to mention you need to download the software and load it (vital steps), it doesn't even tell them they need to plug their phone into their computer!
In any case, that tutorial is out of date.

Won't work on my Hero anyway... Meh...
Friday Android popcorn? Really?!?
Wow!
