I was supposed to click on a link in the third posters signature to discover what you were on about?
And if you check it out, here is how it "instructs" people to root their phones:
Surely my description is far superior! Although I forgot to mention you need to download the software and load it (vital steps), it doesn't even tell them they need to plug their phone into their computer!
In any case, that tutorial is out of date.
You mean you have to plug the phone into the computer!?

Wow this is fun. snores
You're both wrong. Rooting is a piece of piss but really hard.
It's foolproof which makes it nye on impossible.
It's so simple a child could do it so even the most technologically advanced human will struggle. -

This is like watching two bald men fighting over a comb.
Yawn.

That would probably be funny and therefore not boring. Actually.

Probably silly question but is there a Sense skinned 2.3 ROM anywhere? I've got time to write this but not google for it. What an odd turn of events... go
-
• #4310
Isn't that for the Touch Diamond?
-
• #4311
I'll wait for HTC to push it out. I'll get stock update on my DHD and soon after I'm sure some ROM fiend will have stripped out the udpated Sense for use on the Desire.

why don't they just make it a closed system instead of all this yo-yo'ing and rooting your gingerbread?
-
• #4313
Why don't you just head on over to your iTampon thread and jailbreak your new whiter than white must have mocha frappa latte sheep polishing unit?

A single core CPU holds up pretty well against the dual core heavyweights.

re: my earlier problems with connecting phone to pc, I can confirm that having the official HTC micro usb cable allowed it to instantly be recognised. Anyone know why (what should be) identical cables give different results?
-
• #4317
They're not really identical. QED.
I've been having some random crashes with my Desire, seems to be worse when low on battery or it gets hot from when I've been using it for a while. My internal memory had got really low (c.23Mb) so cleared it out and have more like 37Mb, seems a lot better, but still getting the odd crash. Google maps seems to be a particular culprit. It was fine for ages, never crashed, then went mental once and never seems to have been quite the same since.
I've installed and uninstalled a lot of shit, so I'm backing everything up and probably about to do a factory reset, unless anyone else has any bright ideas?

Uninstall it and reinstall
Clear its data cache (Settings > Apps) -

article in metro today Google had to use a remote kill switch to kill some malicious apps, data miners n'all that from folks phones... any thoughts from the forum android experts? yours, a noob.

does anyone know, please..
is there a photo program which takes pictures of full screen, instead of previewing it in full screen and then losing a quarter of it from the sides, like vignette?
or failing that, a photo program that doesn't take 30 seconds to load
thanks
-
• #4321
I used to use Fxcamera but am on paid vignette which you don't like.

Never heard of Jolicould, def looks interesting, does anyone use it ^?
I got a software update on the phone. Nowt special
Now we have started the roll-out of the next update to the 2010 family of Xperia products.
This update can be done either using PC-companion or (for most markets) also over the air directly from your phone.
It brings optimizations and bugfixes along with some language additions and Pinch Zoom touch for X10.
The two highlighted additions in this update are:
Addition of some bi-directional languages (Arabic, Farsi, Thai and Hebrew) – All products.
Pinch/zoom touch for mobile Internet and Google Maps. – Only Xperia X10.
An overview of what to expect from the Pinch Zoom support for Xperia X10 was described in this post back in November.Besides the highlights above I have been trying out the X10 with this update for a while and seen some other nice improvements, some of these can be market and operator dependant though:
Moxier in an updated version (2.7.13) that includes a great overview widget for e-mail, calendar and tasks.
Moxier e-mail shown in Timescape.
Possibilities of trimming videos in the phone.
Videos are transcoded to fit into MMS-messages even if they were recorded in high quality.
Minor changes to Mediascape with access to “Now Playing” in the top right corner. -

My brother's wife will be chuffed - I got her the Xperia X-10, and she loves it.
Have you got the full update yet Lil?
More engaging than editing my paper. I'll leave it now.
