If its hardware should not matter?

I am tempted to sell my Desire to part fund the Desire HD - on contract though.....
It's a lovely bit of kit but is it worth it? How much will you get for your HTC Desire?

Custom ROM, overclocked, overvolted = dead hardware.
Or at least that's what they could claim.

Oh great Hippy.
-
• #3356
They might not even look at it though. Just get someone/shop to lend you their battery to test it.

Im not well atm so cant leave the house and this happens. Oh the joy.

Dunno anyone with a Xperia 10

• #3359
If you take the battery out does it work on USB power alone?
-
• #3360
No, it doesnt do anything without the battery, even when it was fine.

Someone here suggests leaving it on the charger longer.. how long was it connected to power for? Do you get any lights?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448785Do you have a proper charger for it, rather than USB?

Its for xperia 1 not 10, and its been on both usb then proper charger now.
Its one of them usb into charger plug thingy.
Edit: If I turn on the power button it flashes red as in no battery.

I know it's X1 but the logic behind what's going on might still apply. Keep it on the proper charger as long as possible and see what happens.
-
• #3364
Its already been on a wall socket for 40mins but ill leave it longer.
I tried to charge it via usb last ngjt and it wasnt workng then.

my phone went all weird and wouldn't turn on, and when I plugged it into my computer the little light didn't come on either. So I plugged it into a wall socket and left it for a good few hours before trying to turn it on again and it worked. I suggest you try that.

Could also try wiggling any connections (battery, charger). The blackberry I had wouldn't charge unless the charger was on a particular angle - very fucking annoying.
-
• #3367
Already tried that.
Bleh.
-
• #3368
Thanks though

• #3369
have you tried magnets?
-
• #3370
No, we dont own any
-
• #3371
have you tried magnets?
How do they fucking work?
Lil, assuming you get the red light when you press the power, then the phone is not dead. So it should be either a charger or a battery issue. Not that that helps much, but at least the phone isn't dead

• #3372
Yeah I think its that, gunna have to go to a Vodafone shop tomorrow.

I had an issue once with a phone that wouldn't charge. It turned out to be the cable that connected the charger to the phone, had broken within its casing. This came from me folding it up every time after using it. Too many bends caused the internal copper wires to invisibly break. Using a new charger solved the whole thing. Worth a try?
-

Aye, it's defo the charger I believe. I dont wind or fold my charger up, so abit werid to see it not working, but the issue is definitely with it though, as phone switched itself on for a few seconds before saying BATTERY DEAD BAIIIIIIIIII!
Ill sort it tomorrow.Edit: How much would an replacement sony ericssion charger would cost from a vodafone/phone shop?

I thought I had killed a battery once, whilst drunk. Wasn't until after I got a new one, (next day!) that I realised that I had pulled the usb cable from the wall socket.
FAIL!
The battery is dead, I need to charge it but it won't charge. It did switch on for a few seconds until it told me it was shutting down cos theres no more battery
I think it might be the plug in bit problem.
Can I still go to the vodafone shop despite it being rooted?
