Im getting rid of my dell streak....
Its locked to o2 so i cant use my orange sim.. bought it thinking it would get unlocked quickly but cant wait any longer... is it appropriate to put up for sale here?
Also i need a replacement... i like android... so either galaxy s or desire... missus has a desire and its pretty sweet mainly due to extensive widgets... desire seems to have better hardware specs... but main think for me is how well they are supported by developers in the community etc...
anyone?
Ah man you were too quick to sell I was going to ask a mate who was getting rid of his iphone who was interested in that streak.
Nevermind!

Instamapper
www.instamapper.com
Free app that provides real time GPS tracking - sort of like Google Latitude but more accurate.
You register your device with you account and when running in the background on your android (or iphone) it will send a GPS co-ordinate every x seconds (which is adjustable)
It does cane your battery if you don't use it wisely, but you can also send SMS's to it to remote fire the app and provide a location.
Have been playing with it for a couple of days and it's not bad for something that's completely free -

(urgh, I, like, hate americans)

You all hate americans. Nothing has brought me closer to my north american brethren than the anti-americanism I've discovered in London.
Australians can fuck off, though.

I wouldn't, like, mind, if they would, like, just say what they, like, meant, without, like, punctuating every sentence with, like literally, hundreds of, like, likes...

Sucker! :P
No, really, what happened? How did you try to do it? What OS were you using? etc?
I have to say that 2.2 w/ Sense has lots of little nice features that you don't immediately notice. I'm liking it very much. Upgrade asap.

I want 2.2 :(

Your options: flash, wait, buy sim-free.
-
• #2270
Looks like I'll have to wait.
I would really like the tethering though so I can use my laptop as soon as I move house.
-
• #2271
You could just get a 3g dongle. They're pretty cheap I think. I borrowed a mates when I moved.
Or you could flash with one of the custom roms. -
• #2272
I've said it before, but: 2.1 already works as a 3G dongle (i.e, while connected via USB) out of the box. You just need to install the syncing software.
Assuming you have Windows 7: http://www.kuanhoong.com/2010/06/02/how-to-tether-htc-desire-with-windows-7/

I've tried 2 seperate methods now on 2 different PC's - a Windows 7 32bit and an XP and neither method is working - so fucked off now

I used the following process(s)
To create Gold Card - http://android.modaco.com/content/general-discussion/305672/creating-a-goldcard/
For bootloader version 0.80.xxxx or below - http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/307365/14-jun-r6-riskfreeroot-htc-desire-rooting-guide-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/
Both of the above on Windows 7 32 bit
Tried this on XP - http://rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/desire/howto-root-your-htc-desire/
Gonna start afresh with new SD card tonight, I think that's where the issue is
I had one tonight, Ed. Next time.
