  • Mmm HTC HD2. Hmmph

  • They are all variants on the Nokia 9xxx series, launched over ten years ago. :p

  • Any android applications for jogging?

  • Going back to power management my iPhone comes off the charger at approx 07.15 am, then will have exhausted it's charge by approx 16.00 and will need to go back onto charge until 17.00 or it will be dead before I get home.

So with Wi-Fi and so forth in use (but no GPS) it has a run time of around 10 hours before it turns itself off and will not turn on again until recharged.

My Tracks will do if you stick to city streets i guess.

Looking for it for a friend in US. Only to be told "Trails, nigga, trials"! EEeeep! Thanks

    Android Pedometer

    Thanks Ashe!

  • lileth, I was wondering if Google Maps could be configured to give a pedometer reading, and I'm sure it could. As long as the walker had phone reception, then the Google Maps (if on his device) should perform the function well. It would give distance, but not steps.

The steps could be worked out mathematically, by taking an average of steps, over uneven ground (with some rises and descents) and use that average for the journey. As long as the ups and downs were actually representative of the total journey. If not, then just an average of 10 minutes walking should do it.

Can you turn 3G off on an iClone? It will save you muchos powerlos.
I find 2G fine for the most part and only 3G it when I'm going to browse or download for more than a minute or two.

  • Not knowing anything about this shit, i am very impressed with my Mrs HTC Tattoo for a cheap phone.

  • So my 50 hours of standby was based on wifi, gps and background data off. I didn't realise you could turn 3G off, but I have just done that, so will see how long the battery lasts this time.

Oh, the phone is only 1 month old, so battery life is only going to get worse :(

  • battery life is a problem for every modern 3G smartphone, especially the touchscreen ones. firmware can definitely affect battery life (and other performance issues), and often if you update to the latest version you'll wring a bit more life out of the things (manufacturers often rush handsets to market and don't have time to properly bug-fix/optimise them, so they need a post-launch patch-up).

the palm pre (the euro version from O2) is the worst one I have seen recently. it was lucky to get through 6-7 hours of use, in my experience. you can almost watch the battery draining.

  • Not wanting to be too biased, but I find the battery life on my 5800 to be pretty good. I can normally get at least a couple of days out of a single charge.

  • Nokia 5800? That's what I got, it can last about two days. One day if I'm using the internet/e-buddy a fair bit.

  • Galaxy problem....anyone else have trouble connecting to a mac with bluetooth.
even with the USB cable the bloody thing won't mount, so how the hell am i supposed to put my music, pics etc on it??

  • Get a proper computer?

Actually, battery life will improve after the first few full charges. After a while though, then it will get worse :)

They will come out with higher capacity batteries and more efficient cpus and code in time.

Not sure if it works the same, but on the G1 there is an extra step. You have to select to mount the phone when you plug in the USB. There is a pull down at the top of the phone screen once you plug in.

I use a mac and found a great app that lets you sync with iTunes / iPhoto etc automatically. Am working away from home but will post it when I get back.

That's all well and good but if you get electrocuted whilst charging it, battery life is a bit of a non-issue..

My modded Samsung now lasts a few days of normal (probably light for most people) use.

I just make sure I have a charger at home and the office.

Why are you using bluetooth to copy music anyway? USB = faster.

  • @hippy and dammit.....cockoff!!!

    @goodhead, thanks buddy

You have to do that on PC too.

When you plug it in you need to mount it.

There's also a setting in the menus somewhere about "USB mass storage only" or some bollocks that might need changing.

  • I have connect it to PC via USB

    pc ...cnut!
