  • Looks like it's time for you to get a PC, Mumbles!

  • no chance

  • pc ...cnut!

    Personal Computer dickcheese.

Are you trying to tell me your poxy mac doesn't even have USB ports?

  • samsung New PC studio only is for windows

mac owners DO NOT CALL THEIR MAC'S PC'S.

  • So your mac isn't a personal computer? Everyone and anyone can use it? :P

  • This is the syncing application - you install it to your mac/pc. I set it to automatically sync selected iTunes playlists to my G1 and it handles it well.

    There's a windows version too.

  • tried that, still won't mount.

  • tried that, still won't mount.

Are you using the cable that came with the phone to try & connect? Mine will connect with some cables but not others.

  • yup, using the one it came with.

  • Weird. Only other thing I can think of is what Hippy referred to but I thought this option had been replaced by newer versions of Android - still, try it (the location/naming may be slightly different on your phone):

Go into settings from main menu & select phone settings. In there is there an option to either Use USB Mass Storage / access USB/PC Connection settings? If so select it.

I'd also turn off bluetooth when you try to re- connect.

If that doesn't work sorry I can help any further.

  • no USB storage etc........

You don't need that Samsung shit.
You only need to get the phone's memory card appearing as an external drive.

  • no USB storage etc........

    Right.. you have a phone?
    You have a computer?
    Are they both on?
You have USB cable connecting the two devices?

    What happens?

Are you using the phone's storage or did you buy an SD card for it?
If you bought a memory card for it did you format this card in the phone?

  • mac's are Private Computers. or PriCs.
    har har.

    i love macs.
and a nice pc is ok too.

  • Bad news I think Murtle. From the Samsung mobile site:

    http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk/support/faq.do?faqNo=403

"I regret to advise that Samsung do not support macintosh with our mobile phones. No software exists to provide usb connectivity with a Macintosh. You may be able to transfer filesto and from the phone using Bluetooth but again we do not provide software to facilitate this."

Completely nuts. You could try this:

    http://macintoshhowto.com/phone/get-osx-to-see-your-samsung-d900i-mobile-phone.html

Or get a micro sd card and card reader & just install that way.

    Or take your phone back....

  • grrrrrrrrrrr
thanks any way good head....have to get a micro sd card then.

  • I got the hero the other week on an amazing deal £200 brand new and unlocked

    Details of where from...?

  • Samsung seem to have made a bit of a pig's ear over android with the galaxy:

    http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/12184-samsung-firmware-updates.html

Basically it appears they have also locked it from over the air updates, instead relying on owners using that PC Suite software to do manual updates. I don't know how bothered you are 31t®um but as you are a Mac user it would seem you have no way to update your phone's firmware as they also don't offer mac support!!

  • the htc hero won't mount on mac's either it seems. or mine won't. good job i'm all pc at home.

  • right! hippy tell Mal i'm coming around for dinner friday night, you can sort it out for me

  • the htc hero won't mount on mac's either it seems. or mine won't. good job i'm all pc at home.

Hmmm... That sucks, I may have to reconsider...

  • its connected to my mac right now via a cheap ol' lead but doesn't show up. google it joe, before moving on because its an awesome phone.

  • yup. apparently you can mount it on a mac. exactly the same way as on a pc. it must be the lead i am using. its charging the phone but not showing up as being connected.
normally, when its hooked up by usb you are asked if you wish to mount the phones drive or not. on both mac and pc.
    apparently.

  • mine does the same, it just charges but not showing up anywhere.
