Who makes a cross bike with a short effective TT? I'm looking for a 515, ideally. I'd love a Focus as they're cheap as chips, but the smallest in the range is 530...

75 degree ST which mean the TT is realistically 53.5cm (in order to set the saddle at an idea distance from the BB).

Cannondale would really be ideal, and I know I'm being a dick here but the 2014 Caadx Ultegra disc is just utterly ugly...

From the top of my head, BMW GF02 Disc have a realistic 51.5cm top tube with a 73 degree ST (size 48).

They are, (the Tiagra one is nicer looking) but they're impressively light, I'll weight the one we have in the shop on Friday.

Sportif bikes mean you get to run a -17 stem without the conical spacer and still be comfortable.

Do hub bodies really shift or twist enough that it makes a difference which end of the hub gets the torque ?

Old fashioned ones with skinny barrels did, and any hub with a separate barrel and flanges obviously can't transmit much, if any, torque across the hub - think Airlite Continental, early Hope, and Mavic Aksium for examples from the 1950s, 1990s and 2010s.
