Thats why you should open all your bars before you get on the bike ;)
When you carry as many as I do that can turn into a sticky expensive mess quite quickly. #nottalkingaboutbrothels

Where is the best place to get DT Aerolight spokes in multiples of 10 and 12?
i.e. I don't want to buy three boxes to get the following:
20 X 243
12 X 208
12 X 220 -

OK what are these little nipple things?
I've had two frames with them, both front triangle and drive side stay's have had them.
Only thing I can think of is a frame bag would fit to them? Would make sense, except one of the frames was a time trial frame, pretty sure you don't ever need to attach a frame bag to one of those! -
• #28405
Pump bracket probably.
The one on the seatstay is for the chain when you take the wheel out, stops it dragging and scratching the frame.

12 X 220You're probably going to have to buy boxes, those short ones are unlikely to be in stock anywhere, and nobody wants to get left with 8 of them. DT don't even list them in those lengths. CX-Rays are at least as good, much cheaper and available in lengths below 238mm
-
• #28407
That is rather what I was afraid of.
I don't think they exist, actually- the DT Swiss website says that they only go down to 238mm.
-
• #28408
Ah, snap.
The only reason I was going to use DT Swiss is that I have a box of 100 ProLock Nipples, which I am other wise never going to use.
Arse.

• #28409
DT and Sapim nips are interchangeable, you'll be fine using DT Prolock on CX-Rays
-
• #28410
Ok, so CX-Rays:
20 X 247
12 X 223
12 X 212(With 12mm Sapim nipples, as the builder wishes to keep things mono-brand).
Where to get these from?

Again, you're going to have to order in packs of 20 from your lbs. https://www.starbike.com/p/Sapim-CX-Ray-incl.-14-mm-Polyax-nipple-silver-1250-en is usually the first port of call for CX-Rays, but they don't carry short ones.
While we're bitching about spokes, when are Sapim going to see sense and set up a direct sales operation? They dominate high end OEM, but DT are killing them in the aftermarket just because their distribution sucks balls.

fucksticks
so i bought a long inline seatpost, but it can't drop down past the bottle braze ons
I wanted to be able to use the one post for myself and for much shorter people when they borrow the bike (its a 16" frame, i use most of the length of a long seatpost)
can i get the seat tube reamed to stop the braze ons fouling the path of the seatpost?

Ok, so if I have to buy 3 boxes of 20 spokes, I'll end up with:
8 X 221
8 X 210What hub and rim can be built into a wheel with those spokes?
-
• #28414
Possibly a 20" minivelo wheel on a 16 hole old-school Shamal hub
-
• #28415
Perfect for Kris' new folder then

+1. It is stupidly difficult to buy Sapim in the UK.

It's stupidly difficult to buy them in Belgium, FFS. People are clearly happy to pay €2 per spoke plus shipping, so Sapim could rake it in with a factory outlet shop.

I have this same exactly problem.

Anyone know what bb length for a shimano biopace triple? Have scoured the net with little success.
Cheers.

not sure i want to drill out the frame like that
so now have bought a seatpost that i can't return as it has insertion marks
silly me
-
• #28422
How much interference is there with the bosses? Could you mill a groove/flat in the post to clear them?
Worst case, just chop the post so it works for shorties and use your original one for yourself and other tall riders. If you need an extra saddle, I have one in my parts bin clearance which will be fine for people taking short test rides on your bike.
-
• #28423
I am think the only option is going to be 2 seatposts - one for tall people and a sawn off one for shorter people.
i had thought about milling a groove but it would be in the minimum insertion region of the seatpost when i would be using it, and as i would have it at the maximum height it probably would not be safe
it probably makes sense to have the inline post sawn off for short people as it will also help shorten the effective top tube by having the saddle further forwards
what spare saddle do you have?

give george hall's a ring, they'll sort out those lengths for you > http://www.247cycleshop.com/shop/category_101/Traditional-Wheel-Spokes.html?shop_param=cid%3D%26
No. No! NO!
