  • can't be long till integrated levers though right?

I'm sure the work is going on, but if you look at any of Ergo/STI/Doubletap levers in detail, the bodies are already pretty full. Squeezing a master cylinder and reservoir in there too doesn't look possible without changing the grip shape. Di2 should be relatively easy, and probably makes even more sense on a cross bike as you can have satellite shift buttons to allow gear changing from the tops.

  • I've got a similar problem with one of Hatbeard's long drop brake calipers...the bolt seems chromed in place. I've tried everything with no luck, just waiting to hear whether HB is happy for me to have a go at dissolving any chrome that is seizing it in place with some acid.

Fill your boots the caliper is surplus to requirements.

Heat the surrounding area and cool the bolt with some of that spray stuff. Should be cleaner than anything with acid.

I've had at it with a blowlamp and cooled with some penetrating fluid with no luck. Cheers for the suggestion though. On close inspection it does appear that the cable bolt is fused to the caliper...it really looks like a manufacturing defect.

I'll try again when I get back to London although to be honest, if HB is serious that it is surplus to requirements I might have one more go and then just give it back to him.

  • Take the wheels to your room with you and lock the frame up.

Or the opposite. Locked up frame without any wheels invites vandals.

  • Can anyone confirm that an 8sp 105 hub will accept a 9sp cassette?

  • Friends of mine have just thrown out my mountain bike F&F in a house move before i had a chance to collect it. They sent it to the Southwark council Manor Park recycling place near E&C. Has anyone ever been there and do you think i have any chance of them letting me come in to try recover it (it was dumped late last week)?

EDIT: Just been down. Crushed n compacted. Fuuuuuuuu

  • does anyone have a 100mm quill stem?

    i need one.

    90mm would be fine.

    will pay.

  • I've got a black cinelli one - 100mm but 25.4 clamp size. Any good?

  • i am after a silver one, really.

i may take you up on it, though - thanks.

are you coming the the rapture party on friday?

    Thought as much. Cheers

  • okay.

    next:

what grips are people using with a bmx lever on risers?

i assume i would have to cut down strong vs to use a lever on 44cm nitto risers?

  • I used to use v-strong... which I liked.

From perving on the polo forum these come highly recommended. And will probably be my next purchase.

I've got a pair of outland things you can have. if you like look of. Check my "shit sale" thread.

  • aces.

    are you around this week?

  • They're in my drawer at work. I'm not working tomorrow, but am in on Friday. And at MUDDY HELL on Saturday. Touch me there?

(originally from Aroogah, so the circle completes or some shit)

  • splash out on some of these you cheapskate.

i think aram may have some old ones for you...

  • rock n roll. he owes me 10 dollars.

  • An oil filled radiator will probably be your best bet as a heater although not the cheapest option. Avoid anything with a fan particularly in a bedroom.

are oil filled radiators cheap to run? that is my main concern tbh

  • no electric heating is cheap to run unless you have an economy 7 or similar tariff. and with them you can only heat at night cheaply with storage heaters etc

Note, the use of the term cheap is a relative one as nothing is cheap anymore. Energy suppliers are taking the piss these days

  • What is a scone, bread, biscuit or cake?

  • pronounced 'scown'
