Any recommendations for a carbon "all road" style fork? Straight 1 1/8" steerer (alloy or carbon steerer is fine), room for 32c tyres plus guards, takes discs. Ideally not a gravel fork with loads of clearance. I won't be using anything bigger then 32c tyres and would like to avoid huge gaps.

Is parking in a passing place an offence?
It’s said in the Highway Code that you absolutely shouldn’t do it.
But I can’t find anything online saying whether you can actually get done for it?To be clear, if you park in a passing place, you are a weapons grade cunt.

If the Highway Code says "MUST not", it's illegal and there will be relevant law(s) about not doing that thing. If it says "SHOULD not", it's just advisory.

Could be;
HC156 "Do not park in passing places" is an example under HC144 You MUST NOT...drive without reasonable consideration for other road users. RTA1988(amended) Section3 offence:
If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place, he is guilty of an offence -

I think when I looked for something like this before I landed on CX forks but then mudguard mounts are tricky.

Yeah I guess this would be the route to getting done for it then.
I couldn’t find any examples of it actually happening though.I was out with the family yesterday driving along side Loch Chon, an area I frequent on the bike but rarely drive through.
In Scotland there seems to be a new breed of cunt that has bought a paddle board in the past couple of years, but completely fails in respecting the outdoors and others around them.Every single passing place along side the loch had cars parked in them which obviously made it very difficult for cars passing each other.
I see cars parked in passing places around the area all the time, but it’s usually just one that at least leaves some of the passing space free.Yesterday really ripped the arse out it and I wondered how you could be such a selfish cunt :(

I posted this in the Groupset thread but nothing yet...
Am building up something (again) for riding around Epping and maybe a bit further afield with Ratio 12 speed conversion. In terms of cassettes, it recommends only an Eagle cassette but I'd like something with a closer ratio and my wheel is already XDR - great, I can use an XPLR cassette I thought...but no...apparently it's not compatible with Eagle derailleurs...or is it just not optimal?
I'm not super fussed about perfect shifting, it's 1x and for just hacking about.https://ratiotechnology.com/ratio-upgrade-kits/#1x12-wide-forward-compatibility

it just not optimal
I think that it’s more this.
You’re also supposed to only use a flat top chain with xplr cassettes
But there’s definitely reports of folk mixing and matching and if being okay
It will probably work well enough but just won’t be absolutely perfect. The flat top chains have larger rollers so the eagle chain probably won’t mesh perfectly with the xplr cassette.
Only one way to find out… do it

Cheers. This is the alternative but I might see if I can try it with a borrowed cassette first.

Ah yeah that cassette is a good shout. I used an 11 speed 3t version on an xdr freehub and it worked well.

I did spot those but not 1 1/8" straight!

Missed that - then no, Sparta is where I always end up, or that Condor one.

I hadn't seen either of those, either one should do the job I think! Thanks for that.

Do we have a backpack thread?
And also - when searching for a thread like this ("backpack") what I get is a ton of results from the 'classifieds' section.
Is there a way to search smarter? -

You can search a forum rather than the whole site, e.g. just search in "General"

https://www.lfgss.com/search/?q=backpack&forumId=509..ah, this is very helpful, thank you 👍
I suppose checking 'Conversations' under 'Types to display' narrows it down further.
Apparently there's no general backpack thread so I made one, it's here.

I have been looking at wool socks. Kinda dear, but then are so are flipping shoes!
@King_Saxlingham
Wasn't aware of these though, deffo worth a punt I think.@Jonny69
I havent tried spraying my feet, I just go to the shoe normally, exactly as @DethBeard said. I spray them with alcohol too. Not convinced the alchohol works, I've heard freezing can work but haven't done it.@goodhead and @jono84 thanks, these look reasonable too.
Thanks for the response, clearly something we all have to deal with from time to time. I had new shoes on and new socks on and my new shoes were starting to smell like my old shoes. I had them 2 days!

Not by much. Checking "Title matched search terms" narrows things a lot.

Not by much.
Checking that box in the link you posted narrowed it down to 6 from 667 for me, I was happy with that 🙂

Just dicking about with search query strings, and since you have solved your problem this is mostly for strangers from the future, but you can exclude things too with !=, so to get everything except classifieds you search https://www.lfgss.com/search/?q=backpack&forumId!=551

I've had a Money Claim case referred to the County Court. As part of the evidence the defendant has submitted they've claimed that they offered to settle out of court and that I declined. This is not true, I agreed and signed their settlement claim. They never signed the agreement and missed their own deadline, at which point I escalated the case.
Will the Court see that the defendants claim is not true? Am I correct in saying that I can't offer further evidence once our initial evidence is submitted? Is there a legal advice thread?

Is it through the "small claims" court? You should have received a letter with their claim and you counter claim online using the code they provide.
It is usually for a a claimant to prove, not you, that they tried to sort it out before hand. It is encouraged before using the court, if there are any falsehoods in the claim it will not go further than your response and will be closed.
So, counter it honestly and chances are it will be denied and the claimant charged the £70 or whatever it is.
Good luck.
Thanks Ghostface. Hope you are well dude.
