I'd like to know what thread size the little bolts that go into the power2max battery cover are.
I measured one with my calipers and it looked near to 1.8mm is diameter of the threaded section. Would that be a M1.6 or M2? It seems unlikely it would be a size unique to Power2Max

Someone on here suggested darn tough socks to me, and I have been very happy with them.

I need to change some Canadian dollars to £s. Where is the best place to do this? Bank (who aren't super transparent about fees and are a pain to get to during "desk hours") or currency exchange place? Or somewhere else?

The OD of a male thread is alway smaller than the nominal size, so M2 is possible depending the quality of your measurement, but there is also such a thing as M1.8
Also, there are alternative pitches. If you really want to know what you have, you need a pitch gauge and either a standard micrometer and some thread wires or a thread micrometer of the appropriate size. -

I see.
They missed their own settlement date and never signed their own agreement.
The case was then automatically sent for mediation. They missed the call from the mediator so it was then automatically forwarded to the court and we both submitted evidence.this shows them in a bad light, you have proof of your attempt(s).
Hypothetically if you did try and settle out of court but it was not enough, the small claims court is the next step.
If they owe you money and are saying its your fault you haven't got it back but you can prove that's false the SCC is only option and they should rule in your favour. As you are the claimant you provide all your evidence first and they have to counter it.
You may be asked for proof of their "well we tried" statement but they must show evidence of this too. They can't, you may not have to worry. They can't just say it, they have to prove it. If it cant ever be proven it wont be considered.I'm not a lawyer but I've had someone claim against me (I "owed") and I won. It didnt get to a hearing, they gave up and cancelled it absorbing the fee.

I would try Travelex or the like, John Lewis sometimes have quite good rates too.
Or the Post Office, not sure if any good though a la "desk hours"

Googling "best currency exchange rate" or something similar should give you various sites that will let you compare rates for the exact amount you want to exchange. It's been years since I've done it but from memory there's a few places you can post the cash to that offer the best rates, or M&S generally used to have good rates.

Can't believe I'm even considering £30 socks on the verge of a national recession.
Is this what your 30s are like?!

• #113814
Wait til next year when the recession hits then you'll be in profit

Thermarest disagree with @ghostface.

I imagine the difference isn't noticeable.

I was taking some cane creek cantis off an old bike to clean up. after some beer, in fading light. when i go to put it all back together i realise one side had a washer under the bolt above the arm which has a bit that slides between the stud and the arm and the other is missing. How important is this? is there spares?

• #113818
I think it’s to do with canti stud length but I’ve never noticed it making a difference. Something about pre 2008 vs post 2008

Cutting a mirror using a sharp craft knife to score it - does this actually work?
-
• #113822
You might get lucky if the mirror is thin. A proper diamond tipped tool will score a much more consistent (reliable) line though.

Can’t decide what to do with my old beloved Panasonic track frame. It’s been stripped and just a frame for over five years now. I’m not sure I’m ever going ride fixed again, but the sentimentality is strong, that thing was with me most of my twenties, when fixed gear was cool.
Get rid? Keep? Anyone else here been in a similar situation?
-
• #113824
Put it back together and ride it anyway.

Do you need the money? Have you space to store it?
If the answers are ‘no’ and ‘yes’ then keep it.
Yeah it's through Small Claim, all filed online at moneyclaims.service.gov.uk. The claim is with a shop that owes me a refund for a cancelled order. I opened the claim back in March after bing told for months that "we'll get it sorted by the end of the week" until eventually they stoped responding. I offered them to go through mediation and then sent a letter 'making time of the essence'. Once the case was open they disputed the claim and offered to settle out of court. They missed their own settlement date and never signed their own agreement.
The case was then automatically sent for mediation. They missed the call from the mediator so it was then automatically forwarded to the court and we both submitted evidence.
I sent me evidence before they did. Once I received their evidence I saw that they claimed that they offered to settle out of court and I declined, which is not true.
What I don't know is if I'm now able to write to the court again explaining that they agreed to settle but didn't sign the agreement and missed the deadline.
