  • See I was going to say 20
I always call them seventy one and ninety one.
Do you say seven one and nine one?

  • Bee bee eight six or bee bee eighty six?

  • car audio security

Became not a problem for me when I started to have a head unit that is sufficiently integrated into the car that it is only really worth anything in that car and they all have a factory fit one so not much second hand market. One of the reasons I haven't replaced our 2006 Focus stereo with something better.

  • Seventy one etc but 2 seemed funnier. Obviously ruined now we're discussing it, lol

  • Didn't think about it but I would've put that question into AQA eventually.

Terminology and bikes is a great thing. You know in Trinidad they call a fixed gear a 'stationary bike'

  • Yep, supposedly the 91 has 'better' bearings, but how and to what extent they're better I don't think anyone knows. Except maybe Mr Shimano.

  • After a bit of proper thinking about it I reckon just a simple screenless bluetooth head unit, separate phone mount and charger will be better than an Android auto device - for security and also because the location for the head isn't really ideal for a sat nav screen, I'd rather have it nearer the windscreen.

Thank you to you and @farewell for helping me think it through.

  • Thanks.

I’ve just seen there is a BB72, how does that compare with the BB71?

    EDIT - BB72 / BB92 are the mtb versions?

  • If your current radio has an aux in you can get a very cheap Bluetooth module to add to it. Connect to switched 12v and aux in and you are done for about £20.

Edit: eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384165843565 although that one doesn't have a microphone which some do

  • It doesn't have aux in.

Well, it sort of does because we had it hacked to add an aux input that overrides the FM feed when you connect to it...but now FM mode has got a fault and will only come out of one speaker, which put the kibosh on both the Bluetooth FM transmitter and the aux in :(

  • I think BB72/92 are current models, B71/91 are the equivalent from the previous generation of groupsets.

  • What podcast app do people use on iOS? The apple app seems to be getting worse and worse with every update. It is completely terrible to navigate.

  • Looking into getting some straps again.
A friend gave me some a few years back which were all velcro, if I remember correctly, now I see these BLB ones on eBay and wonder - do you screw them to the underside of the pedal itself or do you screw the two halves together under the pedal?
I have (very small) platform-type pedals, there are no options for screwing things in, just little slits to pull laces through.

    [edit]

..ah fuck, sorry, I always forget that basically all things are already explained on youTube nowadays -

  • After a decent inflatable double mattress for when guests visit (rather than camping etc).

    Any recommendations?

  • We bought an inflatable Intex before covid for additional guests, really pleased with it. About 50cm high so it doesn’t need a bed frame. Inflates with a plug in compressor that’s cleverly built into the mattress; deflates either manually or with the compressor. Really good level of firmness for an inflatable.

  • Have been using Pocket Casts for years. Not perfect either but the best overall in my opinion when compared to Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Castro, etc.

  • Electric shavers, just spend £50 on a random Phillips one, or is it worth looking into?

  • Link? Only saw 28/32h for +30mm internal when I was looking a few weeks ago.

  • Pocket Casts

    Will check it out!

  • Restrap are a good option for pedal straps. 15% lfgss discount as well.

  • Thanks, will check them out! I'm not in the UK though, so shipping will likely be expensive..

  • I had an expensive Philips one. After about 15 years it stopped charging and I picked up a Braun. Hated the Braun so bought another Philips after about 6 months which I'm happy with. Think I spent more like 180 quid on it, some Boots special offer where they pretend people pay double normally.

Not sure if that helps. Slightly annoying purchase as they can be expensive but you can't really test them out. I'd grow a full beard if my family wouldn't kick me out.

  • Yeah, another recommendation for Intex from me. Not the cheapest but people actually get a proper night’s sleep and it feels durable enough that it should last for years.
