How much tracking do you need? Bit.ly has some basic free tracking and you can turn that link into a QR code with a code generator for free.

Just basic numbers who have followed it. I hadn't thought of doing it in two parts, cheers.

Using a 1 1/4 stem with a shim on a 1 1/8 steerer, good idea or just buy the right size?
-
• #109755
will be fine with a shim, I had a stem shimmed from 1 1/4 to 1 1/8 too, no problems so far.

If I purchase an item online then return it for a refund, the seller is required to also refund the cost of the item + original delivery cost?
-
• #109757
Depends. If you just changed your mind, no.If it's faulty, they have to refund the original shipping and your reasonable costs of returning it if they want it back.ETA: Turns out I had incorrectly assumed that the regulations had been written by a rational person, which on reflection was foolish since it flies in the face of all prior experience

Depends what their Terms and Conditions say.
-
• #109760
That is to cover the cost of the return to the seller. I am talking about the original delivery cost at time of purchase.

I remember reading about this somewhere.
I think I found it…
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/3134/regulation/34/made
(2) The trader must reimburse any payment for delivery received from
the consumer, unless the consumer expressly chose a kind of delivery
costing more than the least expensive common and generally acceptable
kind of delivery offered by the trader. (3) In that case, the trader
must reimburse any payment for delivery received from the consumer up
to the amount the consumer would have paid if the consumer had chosen
the least expensive common and generally acceptable kind of delivery
offered by the trader. -

The sellers website says they do not refund original shipping cost. But does that statement overrule Consumer Contracts Regulations?
-
• #109763
does that statement overrule Consumer Contracts Regulations
Nobody overrules the Regulations. There are things which must be in the terms in order for the trader to benefit from some provisions, but you can't reduce somebody's statutory rights.

I was answering a different question for some reason (who bears the cost of returning the item depends on what the T&Cs say).
As Tester says, the T&Cs can't overrule the legislation.

Genuine, specific question, and I am not sure where else to ask:
Why do people tend to state: 'My pronouns are [he/she/they]' rather than 'I am [a woman/man/other]'?
The former seems to be rather indirect to me -- if it's requesting the reader respect an aspect of the writer's self-identity, doesn't it imply the latter?
-
• #109769
doesn't it imply the latter?
The two sets don't necessarily map 1:1 onto each other. Giving people pronoun guidance is one line, telling them how you identify might be a whole book.
-
• #109770
At a guess the two might not match as directly as you assume, plus the latter isn't really necessary information in day to day social or professional contexts but if you ever need to refer to the person in the third person knowing which pronoun to use is useful.
-
• #109771
I have considered this before and assumed that it is more specifically helpful to a would-be addresser - therefore more likely to result in the person being addressed correctly? He/she/they aren’t the only pronouns and someone may identify as a man, for instance, but prefer the pronoun ‘they’.
Edit: page refresh fail and it was said better above! 🙄

I've been watching the men's H5 road race at the Paralympics, is the handcycle drivetrain just an inverted version of regular road bikes?
Awesome finish to the race...do watch the last lap if you get a chance

Thank you @gbj_tester, @hoefla, @AlexD, that makes sense to me.

The simplest transformation is a 180° rotation about the BB axis

I need opinions:
We have a week of holiday planned, 100km from where we live in Berlin.
Plan was to take bikes on train and then a nice bike ride of 20kms.
Now the trains are on strike and it looks like renting a car/borrowing one/get someone to drive us. Which involves getting two bikes with mudguards in a car and so on.I had the idea to rent an E-Bike for my girlfriend, so we can just ride the nice 110k (Berlin Kopenhagen Route).
My girlfriend once managed 80k on a day, but is home office unfit right now.
How stupid is the idea? There is a charging point after 70kms.
I'd like to generate a trackable QR code for a flyer (it will lead to a council survey so I can't track at that end). Looking online this seems possible if you pay, does anyone know of any free options?
Also, would the qr code being trackable need to be disclosed on the leaflet? I assume it would be entirely anonymous so I can't see any GDPR issues.
