It's the Martin size scale. 0000 is almost dreadnought size, 000 a bit smaller, 00 smaller again. I don't know how high the scale goes.

I just ordered one of those yesterday. Will post an impression when it arrives.
I'd forgotten about this but my iRig arrived and I've been playing with it a bit. Pretty solid piece of kit, doesn't seem like it would be easily damaged. I've been using it with the iPad version of Amplitude and it worked without any hassle. The sounds are all pretty good to my ear and seem to pretty accurately reflect what they're modelling. All-in-all, a useful and reasonably priced little practice/composition/noodling around tool IMHO.

Quite right regarding folk (reverses chair, finger in ear......) Careful with the body size vs scale size though. Some smaller bodied guitars still have a longer eg (25.4in) scale, which can be harder to play. Also the nut width seems to vary wildly,
picked up a few smaller bodied guitars (usually associated with fingerstyle) to be faced with miniscule string spacing that I just can't get to grips with (no pun intended) -

After years of ocassional fumbling ive recently managed to give my music-apathy a big fuck you, and have actually started to learn to play properly.
Been knuckling down with bluegrass/flatpicking rag type stuff and have been amazed at the wonderful music I can coax out of these wooden boxes.
So I decided to treat myself to a better guitar. Spotted a second-hand Johnson J027 at hobgoblin website so popped in and bought it, managing to knock off an extra £10 too.
So got this:
For £140, which is pretty fab for what is a very good imitation of a Martin 000 guitar, with rosewood back & sides and spruce, plus nice details like semi-V neck. It sells for around £399 / $899 new so am feeling fairly chuffed.
Heres some better pictures of someone elses I found on the net (mine is nicer colour):
http://www.philvolan.com/johnson_jo27_carolina_series_ii.htmIt fitted me better (size/shape) than any guitar id tried before, and am very excited about picking it up tomorrow.

Nice work dude, that looks very sweet. Dig the headstock inlay and tuners. Looks like you got a bargain.
I never did get the rig actually, mate of mine got it and amplitude on the iPad. Seems like a lot of fun.
Anyone know anything about accordions? I might have four to shift on someone's behalf?

Good looking guitar that Johnson and a bargain price too - The name gets a few laughs on the more American-centric guitar nerd forums, but they're very well regarded guitars.
That Collings is stunning - what kind of stuff do you play? Got my eye on a Weber Gallatin F Style mandolin http://www.theacousticmusicco.co.uk/index.php/mandolin-luithers/weber-mandolins.html .... few more years saving should do it

Collings are beautifully made, tho' I was amazed at how unsparkly the sound was when I tried my mate's... He's a proper guitar player and makes the thing sing like a bird when he's picking but I prefer a ringier/chimier guitar for big chords... Different tools I guess...

I have a Steinberger Bass shaped itch. Should I scratch it?
Those Spirit XL2s seem good value -

Any bass with more than 4 strings ALSO any bass without a proper "body" shape = GIGANTIC FAIL

Has anyone used the amplitude I-rig or similar? Looks kinda nifty and seems like a great stopgap solution for me as Im about to move abroad and cant take my amps with me.

- AmpliTube iRig - plug your guitar into your iPhone and rock out![/ame]Incidentally if anyones interested in buying a BlackHeart little giant stack off me, let me know.

• #845
I have. Mini-review posted on the last page. In short, would probably be perfect for your situation.
I may be interested in the BH stack. How much you looking for?
-
• #846
How did I miss that!? Utfsed n all, must be blind.
As for the bh, bought it for 300 so £200 sounds about fair -
• #847
Is it the full stack? What's the condition like?
-
• #848
I've had it about a year, built like a tank but ive only ever used it for practice in my various flats so it's still in great condition. It's the full little giant mini stack, ie head+cab. Youre welcome to come and have a look at it/play around with it if you're interested.

• #849
Mate, I'm definitely interested. Can I provisionally dibs until tomorrow?
-
• #850
Sure no problem
Can someone explain to me what "000" means? When being used to describe a type of acoustic guitar?
