Collings are beautifully made, tho' I was amazed at how unsparkly the sound was when I tried my mate's... He's a proper guitar player and makes the thing sing like a bird when he's picking but I prefer a ringier/chimier guitar for big chords... Different tools I guess...
Yeah I thought that myself though I like it, it's a very earthy, rich sounding guitar. I was recording on it last week and broke a string and didn't have a spare so I had to use a friends Gibson J-45 for the rest of recording, really bright, chiming sound, not my cup of tea at all though it's clearly a great guitar! I've become so used to the Collings now that I wouldn't play anything else!

I have an indian made "signature" brand acoustic guitar. It is a grand audotorium kind of shape, with a ovation style headstock. Matt green colour. Thinline neck, rosewood fretboard.
Decent quality instrument, adjustable bridge and truss rod etc. Very good condition (I am first owner) made of some kind of mystery tropical wood.

don't do it man. they look like cricket bats and can only be played whilst wearing a pastel blue sports jacket (sleeves rolled up) with cream slacks and a mullet.

Not usually one to question another's taste in instruments, but ^ makes you think, doesn't it?

I will always think of Bill with his trusty Mustang (or maybe his old Framus semi)...

These pictures are not helping.
OK, the Bill Wyman one put me off a bit, but he looks way cool in the second one, so I have to overlook the tracksuit. And look how little and boxy and black it is!
Please try harder to put me off -

Get a Mustang... Short scale, punchy as fuck, Job done...

which one of these two headstocks are more likely to get you a hot tub full of groupies and coke?
-
• #866
^ that's better!
The waves of spendy are subsiding.
Mustangs are they heavy? Do they make a nice growly sound? I already have a Jazz which sounds lovely and is good to play but is heavy as hell.
And I have the Danelectro which is light, short scale and easy to play but a bit dead, thuddy and pingy sounding. -

it's all about the nut width. do you prefer autobahn-width precision/music man, or nice country B road jazz width?
/small, carny hands.

Step away from the headless bass BQ. I honestly can't think of an uglier instrument. *shudder.
Squier have a new mustang-alike bass thing coming out soon. Looks very cool. Can't find it online yet but just stumbled across this:

which i think is pretty cool.

Bass related lameness: I bought myself a decent wall hanger for £15 from Denmark St this weekend so my bass can stop falling over all the time but as an afterthought I sent this email to the manufacturer:
*Hello,
I just bought the above model from a local shop and it comes with the fittings for a solid brick wall which I intend to put it up on.
It's probably a silly question but could you confirm that this will support an electric bass guitar weighing 16 pounds as I bought it from an acoustic guitar shop.
Thanks in advance,
'Me.'*
And I got this reply this morning:
Hi 'Me',
Yes the stand will hold your electric bass, however for safety’s sake I’d suggest longer screws and good quality rawl plugs.
I use one of these hangers for my treasured Gibson Les Paul(which I’m sure you are aware is a heavy guitar) and with better fixings its been fine. Not to say the provided fixings won’t do the job, but ‘just in case’……So what the fuck does that mean? Er, yeah but no but.

The stand will take the weight, but the screws won't.

Which part of "for safety’s sake I’d suggest longer screws" is it you're having problems with?
Tanks, will let you know as soon as I can.
