My saddle is small - My arse is getting fatter though :/

But then again, both me and hippy ride the same saddle (and variants thereof), and there's a chasm of about 25kg between us*. It isn't an Arione.
*neatly filled by MrSmyth.Ah, now I see where the 25kg differential comment came from.
Selle Italia SLR. I tried the Toupe and whilst it was good it wasn't as good as the SLR.
I used to use another Selle - a carbon/ti railed, slotted middle wider version called.. fuck knows.. I can't remember. Before that, Selle Italia Flite and Gel Flite. Before that, anything. Brooks don't suit my arse.Hey, BMMF, I've got a non-padded version of the SLR.. saves a whopping 10g :)

Despite it weighing a scandalous 205g, I like the SLR T1, which now lives on my alu/carbon road bike. The SLR XP has also been fine for years on the audax/turbo trainer/night bike.
But the original SLR is perfect. If it ever gets badly ripped, I'll give the stripped/unpadded thing a go, but it's not really somewhere I strive to save weight.
So what are we looking at? 30kg?

after years of riding skinny little italia flites i had a go on the bontrager arse guage, turns out i've got child bearing hips, got wide saddle, never looked back.

@hippy Doesn't look like a saddle for the wider-hipped cyclist though. winces
You're such a keen cyclist, come on - you must have measured your sit-bones to the millimetre, surely. Wossya numbers..?Nup. Well at least not in my current memory range. I've always just tried saddles out.
Ebay made this easier over here since I could buy one, ride it and then sell it on again if I didn't like it for 1/3 the cost of buying new. -

Flites aren't particularly skinny. Were you sitting on the nose of the saddle or something?

it was damn skinny compared to my new one... and my arse ;)

What's your new one? Recaro? :)
-
• #116
but seriously it's a bontrager thing- they making different sizes now and the widest one is pretty damn comfy. basically they're ripping of spec BG completely.

I had a Bontrager saddle on the Ribble. I did quite a lot of miles on it so it wasn't bad or anything.
-
• #118
the new ones are completely different and way more comfy :)
...at least for my oversized posterior ;)

I do thank you for asking.
I had two of these but a male friend nicked the other one off me once the Ldy at the front had worn off.

Ok, comparing people who are different hights and weights is a bit pointless the gap between your sit bones is completely unrelated.
I'm currently 15 stone 4 (was once 20 stone) and 6 foot 1, I've just mesured the gap between my sit bones: 65mm... it appears my girlfriend is right I have the smallest arse in the world!

Jesus fucking christ..!!!
So you're to a few pounds the same hieght and weight as me, but my sit bones are twice as wide, plus a little extra for good measure, than yours.
No wonder people say I have a girl's arse.
I'd never have thought there'd be so much variance in men's arse-geometry. Are women a bit more consistent, or is it as bad for them?

Do you live in a cave? It varies from a size 6 to a size 18 in the UK.

Sit bones, donkey. Not rump-upholstery!
Duh! I have seen women before, you know. They're the ones with the sticky-out bits at the front and longer hair.

and have you measured many 'sit distances'?? :) And what's the best way of measuring, is it measured in hands?
