@John_Wilky Well, I've known a few girls who could manage a hand.
Fisting = hot

Sit bones, donkey. Not rump-upholstery!
Duh! I have seen women before, you know. They're the ones with the sticky-out bits at the front and longer hair.
errrr thats Russell Brand your describing

Shit!! No wonder she said she would only do it "the other way around".
Nooooooo!!!!!

Jesus fucking christ..!!!
So you're to a few pounds the same hieght and weight as me, but my sit bones are twice as wide, plus a little extra for good measure, than yours.
No wonder people say I have a girl's arse.
I'd never have thought there'd be so much variance in men's arse-geometry. Are women a bit more consistent, or is it as bad for them?
Well taking the (not very large) sample of girls who've sat on my lap I'd say there's far more varience. And I'd say it's equally unrelated to height or weight...

Until I've found a saddle that's perfect, I'm slowly learning to hate saddle.
-
• #134
Nick, I have no idea what you are talking about, but I'm sure I'll be told tonight!
Your hatred for the ill fitting saddle will be matched by your love of a comfy one, so just think how happy you'll be when you find it :-)

I was just thinking that, it just take forever since I need to go around borrowing saddle to find out if they're comfortable or not.
the B17 was perfect, absolutely perfect until it start to slag after two weeks of riding.

Ive got wide hips and a fairly big behind but I find suede kashimax type saddles by far the most comfortable.
Its not so simple as wide bottom=wide saddle. It need to put the pressure in the right places and not in the wrong places. Chaffing is something to watch out for too.

That Selle San Marco Aspide I bought of Fiddy is lovely (albeit a little worn) but my road bike has San Marco Rolls i have been given is actually really comfy. it's still on my road bike and i have done 10 hours in the saddle and it was fine.
i do need something a little smaller for my road bike, feel too much like a hipster

it's also important to get the height right, too low and too much weight goes on it, to high and you increase the amount of hip movement and inner thigh rubbing, then there is the bib shorts/no pants/ well made outer cycle shorts. i once had pants under bib-shorts and got rubbed red

I know several men who swear that the selle italia ladies saddle with tthe larger cut out is the most comfortable saddle they've used. These guys were distance riders so comfort was important..as was maintaining feeling (ie., not going numb) Down side to that saddle is you need a deflector on rainy days otherwise you get crotch soaking..
+10K annoying points. I have the Specialized Jett 143 and feel like it's too narrow. Should have kept my 155 but thought "that makes me look like I have a wide ass!" soaked crotch is no fun.

I cannot rate fizik saddles enough. I am a lady of the wider hipped variety, I have a fizik that has bendy middle and (I know this sounds awful) "wings", IE the side bits are flexible. Totally rate it.
I like my fi'zi:k Arione, too. It's probably not the best saddle in the world, but it's so far more than adequate for my purposes. I had hardly any problem sitting on it for the 178 miles on the DD and part of the way back. If I rode much more, I might look into something better, but so far that hasn't been necessary.
I wouldn't leave it on a bike in the centre of London for any length of time, though, unless I had a secure place to lock it up.

Went to Evans, check on that saddle measurment thing, a 155mm saddle is just about too small for me.
for fuck sake.
time to order the Brooks B68, it seemed wide enough at 210mm.

I think I'm with Ed on this one. I'm going to have to go to my lbs and look like a dick whilst I sit on the foam thing to measure my arse. Should at least create some interesting conversation!

i've been using the wtb silverado for a few months now. i like it.
i reckon i'd be more comfortable for me if it had a cut-out in the middle, like a toupe.

I think I'm going to have to get double checked. I went to the Specialized shop and they reckon 160mm is my arse-bonage-width. Which on their little chart says I can manage a 143mm saddle if I use drops, but a 155mm is needed if I'm on low straight bars (which current bike is) and 155mm will also do for upright riding.
Now, someone on the forum suggested that you should allow 20mm either side for comfort, so I should need a 200mm saddle, by that yardstick. Which is pretty feffing wide...
I had already bought a Specialized Alias 155mm, because I'm 16st, carry a heavy bag most days and always have a hefty Abus chain round my waist, etc. Too much pressure for an unpadded saddle. So the Alias went on today, and it's taking some getting used to but it's looking good against the previous Charge Spoonhead saddle. It's weird... I now realise that I've never actually sat just on my sit-bones before.

I don't understand the sizing. I went into my lbs and sat on the specialized thing to find out how wide my sit bones are and it turns out I have a reasonably wide arse as well. It was somewhere between 130-140. So when I looked on the back of the specialized foam thing it was saying that I should be using the 155mm seat, I think.
I'm confused :-S

Wotcha using at the moment Bike Destroyer..?

blimey, your is slighty wider than mine (mine is 120-130), I ride with a Brooks B67 which seemed to be comfortable, I think, no pain anymore that is.
I also have those Specialized 175mm saddle, as I find my arse to be on the edge of the 155mm saddle, unless I'm on a TT speedy gorilla position, it's just about too narrow.

Well I'm switching between a few at the moment to try and find out which is most comfortable for me.
For about 6 or 7 months I was using this:
An SDG seat (which I think was originally designed for XC MTB). I nicked it from my bro when he left home and it was pretty good up until I started getting sores using it. Width at the back - 120mm. It's a pretty firm ride.I then bought a Charge Plug which came with this saddle:
The Charge Stool saddle (it's what I'm currently using because it's got a bit more padding but is not really that comfortable). Width at the back - 120mm.I did at one point try this bad boy:
Which is an old saddle from a 20 yr old Peugeot or Raleigh. It says Middlemores on the back of it and that's all I know. It feels really thin to ride and is a little squishy. Width at the back - 100mm.I'm really hoping at this point you're going to give me a magical answer to my sore arse! I also wonder whether my position on the bike makes much of a difference. I'm currently using drops, but I using have risers on.

Which isIs that a bale of hay in the background?
Something to tell us?
Sit your arse on some dense foam.. stand up and measure the deepest imprints..
