  • Do you know what material it is?

    Afraid not.

  • And re: polishing... For show bikes I wet sand the top coat up to 2500 and then use the 5 step 3M Perfect-it polish system, with a hard sponge, then a soft sponge, then finish with carnuba wax.

  • Fair play for even trying without a proper rotary buffer and a selection of mops. I would normally use a 4000 grit before the liquid cutting paste and then machine finish. I don't think you're going to get there without the proper tool.

I'm also amazed that you've got the cutting polish off the roof fabric, some of that stuff is awful on fabrics.

  • ~£500 for a proper buffer/mops/paste, I'd just buy a new roof.

Which I may still do, but I'm going to give saving this one a good go first.

  • This stage was mildly frightening, it did occur to me that I'd successfully created a toilet window:

  • Maybe an even higher grit sandpaper would help? It's a slightly different material to the headlights and in a place that you are going to notice scratches more I guess.

The cutting compound I used was much more like fine paste (like toothpaste) than t cut, I will try and find out what it was, but it worked fantastically.

  • Love the interior

  • That is great.

Wonder if the novelty of purple would wear off though.

  • Apart from the cheap shiny plastics and dubious colour choice that car looks so modern inside and out it could have been designed last week. Hard to believe that it's a 40 year old design.

  • Wonder what it would be worth in not-purple?

  • New Top Gear.

    Monkey Harris already annoying.

    Urgh.

  • To gear is for people that drive mondeos wearing a ferrari t-shirt.

  • They should have got Schmee150 in as a presenter

  • See the thing about the mechanic who joyrided a customers 911 GT3 RS and totalled it? Yeeeeesh

  • Ok, this is pretty much the final installment.

3,000, then 5,000 and finally 7,000 grit to the right of The Pointing Finger:

    After G3:

    Boo:

So, in summary - it's a lot better, but I don't think I'm ever going to get it glass-like, possibly because it's not glass. It's significantly more translucent than it was, however.

  • Staaaaahp! Looks good

  • Not even purple.

    Amethyst with magenta.

I know this cos I had one. G928BAD

  • I'd have to purchase a purple driving suit to set it off.

  • Stop wasting time posting here. I can still see a scratch.

  • Do you wear red braces to drive the 911?

  • I always drive that naked.
