  • i'd like to think i'd confront an intruder naked but those rubber gimp suits can be a right pain to take off quickly so i doubt it'd be plausible if i wanted to catch them thieving..

  • What do you do if you are in a society that can't afford humaine incarceration without say, closing down a school?

let the crims teach the children. win/win

  • I greatly admire the fact that everyone involved in his capture etc made the harder choice.

    True.

It must have been a crazy and disturbing situation. Even survivors where lying still pretending to be dead out of fear, or floating in the water scared to swim. Imagine coming into that and not know if the kids lying around covered in blood where dead or just petrified.

  • Wow what a free spirited radical you are.

If you didnt want a response to your post why post it? You're clearly enjoying causing a bit of a stir. My feeling is you are angry about something, and are using this thread to vent your frustration. I have behaved in the same way myself on occasion, so am noone to judge. I hope it works out ok for you, whatever it is. :)

I wouldn't count myself as a radical. Free spirited yes.
I suppose my default disposition is one that leans towards an underlying anger, mixed with calmness if there is such a thing. Hot headed I suppose. Some things really make me very very angry and the case in point is an example of that

  • I said if I'd been more awake, I would chucked on her smallest silk nighty. To cause extra disturbance in the mind of the burgular.

  • what the actual fuck!?

Matthew Kelcher, 33, a prospective Labour candidate for the local council, said he was travelling to work when he noticed four uniformed UKBA officers waiting outside the station.
Kelcher said the officials claimed to be conducting random checks for IDs but appeared to pick out only non-white people.
Phil O'Shea, a local resident, gave a similar account to his local paper and said he was threatened with arrest by the officials.

  • the real revolution has begun

  • ^^ comfortable - in normal situations, yes.
but when facing a potentially armed and aggressive stranger? not so much.

This is one of the scenarios where it is very different for men.

  • A hospital which was sold to a private firm 18 months ago has been taken over by NHS after several patient deaths following what should be routine surgery.

At least three people died, 8,500 patient records were lost and a whole host of serious failings led to the Care Quality Commission beginning proceedings to suspend Clinicenta-Carillion's licence to operate at the Surgicentre because of serious concerns for patients' safety

  • My god! I would never dream of going on the attack naked.
A small golden posing pouch is de rigeur in these situations.

  • This is one of the scenarios where it is very different for men.

    Very much so.

  • A hospital which was sold to a private firm 18 months ago has been taken over by NHS after several patient deaths following what should be routine surgery.

I'm biased but every private sector attempt to provide NHS levels of care for NHS costs for elective surgery seems to have been a disaster.

    Lambourghini.....

What makes you biased? Having an opinion isn't necessarily a bias

  • I'm biased but every private sector attempt to provide NHS levels of care for NHS costs for elective surgery seems to have been a disaster.

I don't know about elective surgery but in radiology there have been a few examples of private companies taking on NHS work an bringing it in cheaper and more efficiently. Initiatives like the London Diagnostic contract and PET North have been successful. I think the key is these contracts are designed to compliment existing NHS services, not replace them. Mind you I'd still rather this money was given to the NHS.

  • Let's not forget that NHS management and leadership is a fucking shambles - it should come as no surprise that farming out services can lead to an improved, and yet cheaper, service.

The real issue is regulation, control and accountability - poorly written private sector contracts are going to be exploited, and when that happens, it's next to impossible to drag them back into line.

That is where successive governments fuck up time and time again (whether it's health or any other service), because some pocket lining fuck shortcuts proper due diligence, in order to make a little more cash on the side.

  • Lambourghini.....

    Lambo Rambo

  • Out of context, and misquoted!

Abbas was talking about removing "Israeli" settlers and soldiers from the occupied territories.

Neither out of context nor misquoted.. He's said it enough times and its part and parcel of PLO position.. Or would you suggest that they'd allow Hebron Jews to live in Hebron-- Jews whose families had lived for many 100s of years in Hebron but where "evacuated" from Hebron after the 1929 genocidal riots and massacre (Kristalnacht style) called by the fascist Grand Mufti (Arafat's uncle)--- and not allowed by the British occupiers to return to their homes. Or East Jersualem Jews.. many of whose houses were Jewish until the town came under siege and ethnically cleansed of Jews with the homes and property nationalized by Jordan and given to Arabs. Next you'll announce that Jews never lived in Israel, Eichmann was really a Zionist, the Shoah was a hoax--- see Abbas' book "al-Wajh al-Akhar: al-'Alaqat as-Sirriya bayna an-Naziya wa's-Sihyuniya"--- and that the "Protcols of the Elders of Zion" is a true,,
Fact is that they mean what they say: they want the Middle East ethnically cleansed of Jews. I recall a trip many years ago to Hebron, Gaza etc.. The Arabs took me for a German and how often I must hear "Hitler good".. And when I was told "Hitler no good" came "because he failed to kill ALL the Jews"..

    Kahn may have a point about halmet cams, but this;

"You should ditch the Lycra and the shiny plastic clothing and just wear what you would normally wear to work. That is what people in Copenhagen do. It is a mode of transport not a sport"

proves him to be an ill-informed, superscillious, judgemental fuckwit. Who can fuckrightoff back to his shitty little university and keep his made up bullshit based on opinions dressed up as 'research' to himself.

  • So you don't agree that cycling should be normalised as a day-to-day activity instead of being an activity that's only performed by an out group? Why not?

  • What do you do if you are in a society that can't afford humaine incarceration without say, closing down a school?

Hospitals are being closed in the UK. Are prisons being closed? What are prison numbers I wonder? Probably a lot of people in for bullshit crimes though.

  • So you don't agree that cycling should be normalised as a day-to-day activity instead of being an activity that's only performed by an out group? Why not?

Why should I ditch my purpose-built clothing to make my sporting and transport choice more acceptable to the masses?

Should footballers be playing in a nice Saville Row 3 piece?
