The fact that he has finally managed to propel a bike at over 20mph thanks to his super aero wheels is what astounds him.

Finally road ready :)
Spec:
Claud Butler 531 lugless steel frame [mid fifties]
Miche cranks,
Normandy Hubs on Mavic Record du Monde de l'Heure sprint rims with tubs,
Brooks Swift saddle,
Nitto B123 steel bars and Nitto Pearl stem,
Campagnolo brake levers,
and a Hi-Gear brake because it was the only one in the shed with enough drop :) -

Nice.
I hope your going to be riding with spare tubs over your shoulders this summer?
;)

Look awesome, the Miche crank is an oddity on that bike.
Check out the TA crankset, they're lighter than the Miche too;

Check out the TA crankset
Are you trying to get the whole of LFGSS onto Cyclotouristes? You keep recommending them, and people rightly keep ignoring you. They are not very good, they are pretty much obsolete, and there are plenty of better, cheaper, modern cranks to do anything Cyclotouristes can do.
That CB should have Williams or Chater-Lea to be 'correct', although a classic Record or one of the modern clones would also look better than the Miche

Do you know where I can get new chainrings for these? Is there a standard BCB for these that runs across brands?
I've a friend who's really enjoying his 70s french road bike... but who has worn his chainring to dust.

One of those Zenith track cranks would look good on a budget, I'd say.

Yeah I know but I got pissed off waiting to find one, It's been in my shed for four years but I never get to the right Jumbles at the right time, I have Cyclotourist cranks on two other bikes I might swap over, good selection of chainrings as well even a dinner plate 60 tooth
"That big bastard gave me a 130" top gear when I was commuting at 17 :D"@Miro_o there is a used tub and CO2 cartridge wedged in that saddlebag :)

Progress on the nasty/nostalgic mid 90s mtb.
4 solid days, 2 tins of nitromors, 3 rolls of wire wool, 8 sheets of wet & dry, 2 wire brushes, 2 tubes of autosol, countless rags and 10 bleeding fingers, and we have BLING!filed out some of the welds around the GT badge and bridge.
Would look good painted red IMHO.

I thought that Miro_o wanted you to get rid of the saddle bag with the complete Campag tool kit in it.
A spare tub "belongs" in a trimmed bottle holder in the bottle cage or folded nicely under the saddle (with a toe strap of course) -

I got the Don Gibbs rolling in the weekend. Crazy stiff frame and it rode really nice on a 40km run on Saturday.
Frame / Fork: Don Gibbs track frame Columbus Max 53
Stem / Bars / Headset: Nitto Jaguar 90mm / Nitto B123 / Suntour Superbe Pro
Post / Saddle: Thomson Elite / Flite
BB / Cranks / Chainring: Campagnolo Veloce Italian thread / Suntour Superbe Pro 170 / Suntour Superbe Pro 49T
Front Wheel: Camagnolo Shamal clincher / Continental Ultra Sport 23c
Rear Wheel: Araya Super Aero to Suntour Superbe Pro / Euro Asia Gold Medal 17t / Suntour Superbe Pro lockring / Continental Ultra Sport 23c
Pedals / Straps / Cage: Suntour Superbe Pro / Toshi Singles / MKS
Chain: HKK NJSIt isn't quite how I want it now, but over time I'll fix some bits up and change some parts. I am hoping to find another Super Aero rim to run on the front as well as a Superbe seat post and Superbe Italian thread bb to complete the group set.
