  • This maybe?
I may see him on Sunday.

Oooo! How much do you think they'll be asking for the forks on the far left? Roughly?

  • Nice Feather. Really liking the saddle choice too. Not so keen on the forks - personal preference, but I think it would look better with rake at the bottom of the fork rather than in the crown. Were the forks your choice? Does Ricky offer a variety of styles of fork??

What he said and road bars with S900 levers and the Feather would be 110% pornography.

    Pm'd with marktplaats link..

No idea, but the guy is very reasonable.
If he sells one of his beautiful frames, the price is high, as you can expect.
But for some "left overs", you can make very good deals with him.
He's been here on the forum a couple of times.
Send him a PM via this forum or his Flickr.
If you want, I'll give you his email address.
    Better don't bid via Marktplaats.
Oh, and don't forget to check the steerer tube length...

  • My bank just took a real beating.. Bike will be

    Plus

    and my trusty old saddle.

  • Like to see that when it's ready.
Very short head tube, rising stem, very deep drops...?

  • seatpost is yet to be cut. Plus I'm rather flexible ;)

  • definitely better than some of the wank 'alt' bridges we've seen

Praise indeed. I was worried it was a bit, well, wank, but I still like it, so all good.

@ TheorySwine: I've kept them on partly because they look so awesome...

@ forms: The straight-blade forks were my choice, yes. I admit to a weakness for '90s Colnagos and their precisa forks. Ricky does of course offer curved forks, and he recently acquired the machinery to do custom bends on the blades, so he can do anything you want, pretty much.

@ Gabe: interesting you should say that, it nearly had something very similar to that. At the last minute I decided to keep more of a track flavour and put B125AAs on it. I might experiment at some point but it's not my regular commuter - that does (or rather, soon will) have road bars and drop levers. I agree for regular mileage it makes a lot more sense.

  • My Cilo is coming along nicely now that I've received my saddle from b'jammin. Hubs and rims are ready to be built then I just need to find a pair of 600ax bars and a headset and I'm good to go. Comes up blue in pics but it's Cadburys' purple.

  • @dpres That's how I would have built mine up if I'd had the balls to risk the legendary Hinde customer service. Ahh what could have been :(
Do this well, for I'm living through you right now.

I presume that rear vento is 20h? Is it built up with a 40h hub with half the holes missing?
Just wondering, as the reason i turned a cheap pair down (off marktplaats), when they were still hip is because of the odd drillings..

Yeah exactley. Its an old Bayliss Wiley 40 hole hub half laced to the rim. I was skeptical at first but a 10 months on of 30 miles a day commute has shown me that they are good wheels.

  • Hey,
finally finished this and I'd like to share it here, it's my first fixed build, and, as some essential parts (frame, hubs) and wheelbuilding came from here, I'd like to say thanks again to everyone involved :-)

  • OK you ain't cut no corners ave ya. Nice !

All we need know is how much it cost to build ? I'm guessing near £1500 ?

  • Jetski that thing is incredible!

  • wow, for any bike that is a beaut but for a first build it is really fucking nice!
i assume you've built bikes in the past?

  • One point, as its now a road bike ya need more clearance on ya rear wheel. Chain to short.

  • Why?

  • Its also the wrong colour for a road bike... apparently.

    chain to short what?

  • Maybe to fit a mudguard?

  • Road dirt, leaves, rubbish, less chance chippin ya paintwork, less chance ya back wheel locking up through debrie, less chance you falling off,

    Just my opinion.

    almost exactly £1000

thanks! yeah, but only other kinds of bikes, road, mtb, etc.

    Maybe to fit a mudguard?

haha, yeah. no I think the chain is fine, diffo's debris remark is something that I considered first, but in reality it does not do any harm, tested it.

  • Ah the perils of a short chain...

    sigh
