Someone 'West' must know how to set up a telephone conference chat we could all dial in to,
to help each other get through the self-isolation/London lockdown? -
• #26506
I can sort something

I did "socially distanced" drinks with people on my driveway with disinfected seats set up 2m+ apart ha ha - could do it at mine if people want to. I can provide beers, but might defeat the purpose so maybe BYOB? I would have to check that the other half is happy with that as well, of course!

You've dressed your deckchair in shorts and T-shirt?

Don't you just love English. It's quirky. Rules can be. Broken.
and yet
things will work. out in the end.

• #26511
Apologies,
cannot think why I left you off the weekly reminder list. -
• #26512
Who were you serenading?
or,
were you banished to the balcony for social distancing? -
• #26513
Nah man, that's where the sun shines all day. We were both out there with our laptops pretending really hard to work. ;0)

Do the tin cans and string require special 5G knots these days?

Wed lunchtime bump for 'something'.
-
• #26516
This week's bump is of course virtual.
Anyone with the nous/wherewithal to set up something we could
all dial into to have a group chat?@ffm @hamrack @hippy @Sifta

Brown Ale,
going back to the mid- to late '70s,
I never saw Mild in outer north west London sports clubs bars,
but,
Mann's Brown Ale, in bottles was always available
for those who found Bitter too bitter.
It was a step further along from a 'Pint of Light & Bitter'.
A generous landlord/barperson would raw of 2/3 point of Bitter
and also hand over a half pint bottle of 'Light Ale'.
A meanie would pour the Light Ale into the pint glass then top off with Bitter. -

When I was at uni in Liverpool in the '80s, the local bitter (Higsons/Tetleys) was so bad that it was the norm to make it palatable by adding brown ale, I used to drink either "brown bitter" (1/2pt bitter, 1/2pt brown ale), or "brown mix" (1/2pt mild, 1/2pt brown ale). Fortunately, there were a few pubs like The Crack that sold imported fancy foreign exported beers such as Boddingtons from Manchester.
Those were the days!

Ha,
when I, (incredibly), found a job with a firm in Liverpool in the mid '90s,
it was just down the road from the Higsons/Cains brewery,
but by that time it was owned by a Danish company. -

if anyone is keen to join, here's a google meet (shouldn't need a sign-in I hope?):

I am drinking the controversial Mann's brown ale, and finishing up some work, but happy for anyone to join... -

I forget to remember you're a Scouser, by birth.
I'll rock up this one day just to fuck with you all. :P
