it'll live in my girlfriend's parents
Intriguing! Perhaps let them have a say about the spoke holes as well then, only polite.

Haha, I'll see what everyone says! Thanks for the advice

Ok so the bike's basically finished - cabled it up, slapped a chain on it and rode it around the neighbourhood a few times. Fits like a glove and everything seems to work as it should. Now back to the bartape issue. Thanks to @dancing james I've learned that yellow and purple are UKIP colours which is a bit irritating. Granted, no one here in Sweden knows or cares about it but still, not something I want to be associated with. So while I had almost settled on yellow cloth tape I am now open to suggestions. There's a lot of colour already so I think black or white would be as much of a contrast as any other colour, i.e. there's no safe and boring option. Discuss please.

A few other builds I've found. All basically gash (except the original ad obvs) and epic fail where people have tried to go matchy bartape and frame colour.
This is ok in all it's fluoro disgustingness
Here's sort of the idea I had with the yellow cloth tape

^ Nice. Green to match the saddle or black/dark brown would be my vote.

Colour starts from the drops apparently.

+1 for Green

Pelten Shade FTW, and you'll wrap green in the drops and white up top just as the almighty Pelten designed it to be:

Ok. I'll go with green.

Long term it has to be black. That green saddle will be so hard to match and once the tape fades (if cork) then it'll look naff.
I do like the tape you're going with though.

Stängt på Veloform ju! Onsdag är det öppet! 🙂

Yeah you might be right but it's only bartape after all and easy to change it. I have a black saddle I could use instead if I want, but I think the green flite is pretty special and deserves to be ridden ;)

Que? [thrust is for some reason telling me our LBS is closed on tuesdays which it isn't]
-

Yeah I think the saddle is great. I just wouldn't try and match the tape to it.

I think you're right. It looks shit. Only done one side, going to switch to black as I've got a few rolls.

I like it

Well I didn't. Plus the other roll tore in half. So that's that, black tape and bottle cages, bike finished for now. Shakedown commute tomorrow!

I liked the tape too :/
Depends on what Yorkshire lanes means to you and how much you weigh. The smaller diameter (=shorter spokes, holes closer together) means 650b 32h roughly equals a 700c 36h wheel if I've understood things correctly. I wouldn't worry about 32h. I got 36h as I had hubs in that drilling already. And I'm 80-84kgs.
