Awesome. I almost thought the left legs of those chairs were humongous mudflaps. What bars are they? Interested to hear how the braking is too.

Looks really ace

Thanks everyone. @MisterMikkel et al not ruling out green tape later but just wanted to get it rolling. @alialias they're nitto noodles and the braking is great, much better than I'd hoped.

I thought supacaz was to be avoided on the basis of their misogynistic advertising

Well, they'd have to be a really nice & non-misogynistic bunch for me to pay $40 for bar tape.

That is some awful shit.. I hadn't seen their advertising before.

I've got some of this stuff on one of my bikes, somehow it's indestructible although not very comfy:

Here's someone who nailed it colourwise on a fluo frame. Think I've seen it on here?
In other news I took my frail and aged legs one step too far on a hilly fixed ride the other day and have now got hip pain from hell, limping around and actually wishing for crutches. Bo hoo. Luckily I have this undergeared fat tire thing to pootle about on while mending.

Also, a niggling train of association I've thought about for a while. While reading up on 650b bikes I naturally came accross Jan Heine's piece on the matter:
To my surprise, the bike responded quickly enough to avoid the pothole. When I got tired, the Singer was easier to keep on a straight line [...] The Singer had “quicker,” more precise steering, yet it was more stable [...] That is when we started measuring geometries. We realized that the Singer’s geometry was anything but the “relaxed” geometry we had expected. The bike had a steep head angle and less trail than was common at the time. During Mark’s first ride on my Singer, over a challenging stretch of road, he exclaimed: “Now I know how a bike should handle.”
It triggered a memory from when I discovered Bathory's music many years ago and tried to figure out where the band name came from - the mad countess Elizabeth Bathory as it turned out:
One day an attendant girl was brushing Elizabeth’s hair when she accidentally pulled too hard [...] The countess erupted in anger, jumping up and striking the girl [...] The strike was so hard that it made the girl bleed and some of that blood was left on Elizabeth’s hand. Later that night, Elizabeth noticed that the skin on her hand where the blood had been looked more youthful than she had seen it in many years. This gave her the idea that if such a small amount of blood could make her hand look so young, then more could restore youthfulness to her whole body. It’s said that this is when the madness began and Elizabeth started to bathe in the blood of virgin girls.
Now, can anyone deny the similarities? Has Jan Heine already slipped into utter madness? Have I somehow contributed to the spread of his cult by sacrificing this perfectly good old road bike?

A ~65 km ride today confirmed everything works as it should. Thanks to poor map reading skills I suddenly found myself under some railway tracks. The chic urban milieu immediately inspired me to snap a few shots.

I got the bottles long ago, honest! Just couldn't resist when I realised the matchy matchy potential.

Goddamnit, I just looked through the thread and saw that. I was sure that I saw the Sugino logo so was looking for a reference to that...
Oh well, thanks! -

The bikes is so so so good. Really would like to meet it in the flesh!

A pair of Compass Loup Loup's would look sweet on there

Thanks all. Idk about tyres, these seem alright. Might go for some trendy expensive ones when I wear through these in 3-10 years :)
I have to stop pedaling through corners, had a couple of butt-clenching pedal strikes. Low BB!

The bike is really nice, interesting project thread too.
I was wondering if there's a gap on Vittoria Voyager / Marathon Supreme level for 650B, but nah, at least Schwalbe offers a couple of widths. No tan wall though.
Shame about the green tape I think, but is still looks great with black tape..
