I second that, paintwork is awesome. Kinda reminds me of the Basso Ascot, one of my alltime favourite paintschemes:

Wow, never seen one before. I like that a lot, and yeah it's a bit similar in the contrasting.

This bike keeps getting better and making me want to do DIY stuff - can't wait to see the finished product!

Really digging the proportions of this bike! Looking forward to the end result.

Cheers all. Connected everything together and while the front light seems super bright as promised, the taillight has a very understated subtle glow. As in it's not working at all. Gaahh, fuckety fuckety fuck!
Oh well.

Turned out to be the front light that was causing the issue, it wasn't feeding enough power to the rear. Got a new front light today and hallelujah etc. Now to put everything together again and then get on with normal bike stuff like levers and derailleurs.

It will look great! Take it to Veloform so we all can geek out when it's finished

Obligatory money shot outside Veloform ;)

Was it not earthed before? that'd explain why it wasn't working.
-
• #115
No, it was earthed. Problem was something in the front lamp, see above.

Really digging this build!
Been thinking about a rim braked 650b conversion for a while now...
Do you have any complaints with the rims? Seem pretty good for £24 each -
• #117
@Miitch No, no complaints. Built up a pair for my wife's commuter last year and they've been solid. You can still get the 32h ones for €15 each: http://sella-berolinum.de/shop-teile-parts/felgen-und-zubehoer/810/650b-/-27-5-/-584-schuermann-felge-mit-bremsflanke-32-l-silber-eloxiert?c=241
The ones from ^this batch look dodgy as the holes in the inner rim wall are punched, not drilled. But no problems. Someone commented they'd used them for L'Eroica and toured on them too without issues.
Edit: found it, it was @ElGato who'd used them pretty heavily

Thought this would look cool. But it's huge, must be for a motorcycle or something. Teach me to read ebay listings more carefully...

Yes, I have those rims on two different bikes I have converted and so far they have been really good, specially for that price.
These seem to be in stock still:

This is so good, very envious of your rando bag modding skills.

Don't forget the brake pads :P
Looks ace! -

Here's good ol' tester having a go at our rims:

Ha! I have to say that it looks bad in the picture, but Google translate said they were safe and I'm still alive.

I'm building a Yorkshire lanes bike, it'll live in my girlfriend's parents so I don't wanna have to service it too often - do you suggest splashing for the drilled 36s then?
Looks so much neater like this. I think that it'll all be ok too, with regard to the frame failing.
Also, gorgeous paintwork!
