I'm good friends with the accused willy waver. And in fact rode with him on the day he took his CX bike round those trails. He only chose the CX as his MTB had a terminal rear shock collapse the day before and his choices were CX or not come along.
I was amazed (and impressed) at the trails he managed to ride down and also how hot on our heals he was. He said he enjoyed it as it felt like Mtbing on a 90s bike again ie he was a lot more involved so I guess there's a greater sense of satisfaction from cleaning a section. Whilst there were a few features he had to walk down I was honestly amazed at some of what he did manage.
Whilst he's not a willy waver I do suspect he would have enjoyed many of the positive comments he got that day from stunned MTBers. And who could blame him.

Which trails we done? I must know.
Reckon I could nurse a cross bike down BKB, YP, Telegraph, maybe SuperNova

If at possible could people refrain from willy waving during this ride? Last time such things occurred a stunned group of OAPs outside a tea room in Shere spilt their elevenses everywhere.

Ha.
Not sure the names of the trails TBH @Howard , I just go and ride (or follow friends who know the trails). That day we were mainly on Pitch Hill and he did the lot pretty much. Did yoghurt pots and BKB which were the tamer end of what we did that day.
Don't think his wrists thanked him much by the end.

I'm really looking forward to this ride, particularly as I'm in January winter blues mode after being hit with two consecutive bouts of mega lurgy.
Bring on fucking spring!

Any willy waving occurs and I'll leave the offending wavers behind. :-D

< pedant alert > Yoghurt Pots and BKB are on Holmbury Hill (not Pitch).
-
• #67
Yeah I know. That's why I said mainly pitch. We then went over to yoghurt pots and back down BKB.

There is some good stuff on Holmbury, I know a few interesting trails there, was thinking of starting on Holmbury anyway.

50mph + winds on Sunday, so watch out for falling branches!

Yeah, it's going to be blowy. It'll add to the general ambience. :-)
Most of the trails are do-able on a CX but much slower and less fun unless you get your fun from willy-waving IMO.
