50mph winds are merely a trifle.
Which is what we'll be when a tree falls on us.

Did the scouting run on Holmbury earlier on today. Good thing I did as many trails have been destroyed or massively blocked by strategic forestry operations.
A trail I loved which ran parallel with Telegraph Road has been totally blocked on the top gully section.
Many old school trails blocked.Telegraph Road now has no trees whatsoever. Don't know when that happened, I haven't rode it for a year.
Massive gale force tailwind propelled me down it today, was like a motor. Will probably only do four or five trails on Holmbury on the day.
Scouting Pitch tomorrow.

Crack pipe destroyed? Please not crack pipe.
-
• #81
No, that one is okay. Running well today.

Secret Squirrel is gone. The main trails are still there. Yoghurt Pots, BKB, Telegraph Road, Crack Pipe, I should Coco, Van Gogh's Missing Ear.

• #83
Yeah thought it might be

Did a little ride on Pitch Hill. The new end section on John the Baptist is ace. Lovely use of the available gravity, super fun berms, boostable little tables.

Spring is only a month away! Looking forward to the ride.
Considering the amount of felling and trail destruction on Holmbury Hill I think we'll do less there and head to Pitch Hill/Winterfold for the rest of the ride.
On Holmbury we can do the usual suspects of Yoghurt Pots, maybe Crack Pipe, and into Reservoir Dogs/I should Coco, Barry Knows Best. There's loads of trails still open on Pitch Hill/Winterfold.

Much temptation, especially if @SteadyCam brings some familiar polo faces.

• #90
@SteadyCam, bring all the polo crew. :-)

I have been thinking whether to cancel this ride or not. I'm still going to ride so if anyone wants to join you can.
I understand that for many travelling from London using public transport is dicey considering social distancing so if anyone cancels, as I expect many to do, it's no problem.Best to stay safe.

• #92
Ugh I think the decision might get made for you.

• #93
Fingers crossed there are still trains

• #94
Okay.

Bummed. Really wanted to ride my bike.

Yeah, I'm out. While i'm sure it would be fine, this would likely have seen me pushing my limits in terms of riding. I'd be at a significantly increased risk of ending up at A and E, which at the moment, I really don't want to do, either as a way of catching any kind of sniffle, or causing any more work for the NHS.
I'll still be going for a ride, but all on my own and well within my limits.
Enjoy whatever you do, just ride safe and enjoy the fresh air!

• #97
Yeah, it's a total swizz. I'm still going riding.
-
• #98
I understand. Hopefully we can do a belated spring equinox ride in the summer.

I'm on isolation from work and have mild cold symptoms. May go and ride NDW Oxted to Sevenoaks if my joints stop aching by the end of the week instead. It's sufficiently boring to not end up in A&E.

Same thoughts on using public transport, potential impact on NHS, etc. I guess for me it means more solo road riding for unspecified amount of time.
Blaaarerrghhh
