That's fine. It helps bump this thread up a bit.
You asked in your email why would you pay a stranger £15 to ride your bike?
The short answer is I'm not asking you to pay £15 to ride a bike.
The slightly longer and see is; I'm asking people who'd like to participate to pay £15 to race a bike and this helps cover the cost of the event. In fact, because it's only £15 to enter there will be no profit made at all and we'll be lucky to break even, such is the cost of putting on such an event.
It's cool if it's not your sort of thing. It seems like you just signed up on this forum to troll, but that's also cool if you want to do that.
There are people travelling over from France, Germany, Denmark and Italy for the race and I've got quite a few couriers racing too along with a lot of members of this forum. Maybe ask them why they've paid to enter?
Thanks

Plus Thundercrit will have a Circle Line ride, a nice social ride out the the venue and a few parties..
Great chance for friends to meet up and maybe make new ones.

So much spirit of the forum, next weekend is going to be brilliant.
If it's not your thing, don't come. Simple.

I'm volunteering instead of racing now so there is a men's slot available - sorry I should have said something earlier. I don't want to organise the ticket for someone else if that will cause insurance/etc issues for the organisers. Any thoughts on getting the ticket into racing hands? Not bothered about getting any money back, just realised that an empty slot would be a shame if there's people wanting to race.

guys, just in case of Great Eacaping a day early, so free Sunday, can we just turn up on the day, or is getting a ticket a requirement?!
-
• #141
There will probably be one or two opportunities to enter on the day but on a strictly first come first served basis.

There's some corners in there. Is there a recommended gear ratio? I know it's a pretty individual thing, but what are folks going to be using? I was thinking 49-15, but maybe 50-16 might be wiser..
-
• #148
You'll be best going with a gear that you can stay on top of and control be it 49*15/50*15/50*16
Apart from the Hairpin (ish) 49*15 seems a very good option but Im judging that based on the map.
Personally Im just going to bring my chainrings & cogs with me and see what the track looks like when I get there and set up accordingly. Just gotta get there in good time.

I'll be bringing a few along too, can always gear down for the first heat.
There's a huge difference between an alley cat and a fixed crit. This is somewhere between a road criterium and a mass start track race.
