  • I like those rectangular ones, like @velohobbit has, all keys, no gaps. Is that a 60% keyboard?

  • Must stop delving into the intriguingly niche threads on this forum and finding myself lusting after something I didn't know existed and that I definitely don't need.

You do now the 'n' in 'n+1' actually means 'niche'?

  • Expensive, geeky and satisfyingly clicky.

Bargain tip: all keyboards are satisfyingly clicky if you hit them hard enough.

  • Didn't realise there was a thread...!

I have an ISO layout K2 as well; also got an AKKO 306.

Keycaps on the AKKO are much nicer than the K2 but they're WIN modifiers and it's ANSI layout so I use the K2 most of the time. The only major thing that bothers me is the angle and height of the K2. Impossible to rest my wrists against the desk due to the key height, though i guess that makes it better from a health POV.

The AKKO has brown switches though so that makes using it when on conference calls a lot easier as i miss less of the conversation.

One thing i'd definitely recommend @ObiWomKenobi for the K2 is some o-rings. I've got 1.5mm on all keys for mine. They retain the bounce and click but travel and some of the "ping" you get from mechanical keyboards is reduced. It makes me a faster typer.

  • cheers, I've done the o-ring mod, it makes a difference. I always use a wrist rest, so the height is no so much of an issue, but I do like the look of the lower profile K3!

  • In the unlikely event anyone want to buy my ansi layout k2 get in touch I can't get used to it.

  • Well these look like a brilliant "investment"! My current keyboard work posted out to me is the cheapest/nastiest thing I've ever typed on.
Annoyingly I need the number pad. Those Keychron K4's look like they'd fit the bill but I'm not sure if I could live with the "£@'s being in the wrong place - is this the difference between ANSI & ISO?

  • plenty options out there like Logitech g512 too

  • Oh, maybe. I'll do some reading and let you know. What's the biggest hurdle?

  • is this the difference between ANSI & ISO?

Someone might have JIS'd on you.

  • Thats like a very dull game of spot the difference :-)

    I will continue the search!

  • The return key has been getting most on my nerves.

  • Oh, I think I can deal with that. If it comes with Mac keys I'd consider it seriously. Are you London based?

  • No. I can probably post it though. Let me take a picture of it for you.

  • Here it is. Its the white led plastic body version. Are those all the Mac keys?

  • Is there a reasonably priced non-led full size keyboard that would work in an office setting? Not worried about noise (not open plan), just would prefer it to be visually discrete so expensing it isn’t remarkable.

  • Great, will pm

  • Das Keyboard

    Edit: Ah, reasonably priced...

Reddit suggests RedDragon (bit of a shame about the logo)
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Redragon-K552-N-UK-Mechanical-Keyboard-UK-Layout-No-Light/dp/B07CMJFMW8/

  • Thanks that’s visually fine but I need the number pad too - I’ll see if they have a full version.

  • Can these RGB backlit keyboards be set up in a more adult manner? Maybe just a faint orange or white glow rather than full on 12yo COD king?

  • Mostly yes, sometimes no.

    Check before buying but probably

  • Cheers

  • K2 has probably 20 different LED patterns and each one can then be a specific colour or multi coloured. All the way from normal white to full multi colour disco mode.

    Definitely something for everyone.

  • @Dramatic_Hammer I have a red dragon, its perfect for the price. Nice, very well made no deck flex. Switches aren't that nice, a bit poor on the cap stabilisation, but its cheap so can't complain, huge improvement over any a non mechanical.

The non backlight one has normal font on the keybcaps too which is nice
Also the bit with the logo can be prised up and sanded off. I did it with mine.

I'll be getting a Durgod Taurus K320 with brown switches as my next upgrade soon.
